Gautreau's is an American Bistro with subtle French and Creole influences. If he wants a true Creole restuarant he should go to Clancy's. Clancy's is my favorite place, but I think the food at Gautreau's is a tad better.

Have you looked at the actual menu on Gautreau's website?
Has he?
Has she?

You really can't get New Orleans without some French being involved at some level.

yes. gautreau's was her second choice because she likes seafood. but he is prob going to send her more links... of the places that are being suggested. who knows. they may end up getting too drunk, getting a lucky dog, and going back to the hotel like the local college kids
(sorry if that made you cringe, glass)

Not at all, I love hot dogs. I'll eat just about anything.

Now I would say the Roosevelt. The Windsor Court needs some serious updating and attention.

I just stayed at the Windsor court last weekend. Wasn't impressed in the least bit. They didn't even have a coffee pot in the room. Don't stay there.

Roosevelt.
If he wants to be a big baller, he can do the club level at the Ritz Carlton.

I stay at the Windsor Court all the time. I've never seen a coffee pot in the room. They bring it when you call.
It's not a Holiday Inn.

Well then let's go down the list:
- Carpet was buckling in most of the room.
- Light bulbs were out.
- Very old TV on a rickety TV stand with bad cable connection.
- No microwave in kitchen but had a very old stove. Who in the world uses an old stove at a nice hotel? And I mean a very old stove.
- Charged me for things in the mini bar but I didn't take anything.
- Bed post came apart when I touched it.
And this is supposedly a top notch hotel?

Windsor Court hotel rooms needs some updating, and the new owners are supposed to do that, so we'll see.

Dear mani,
Reading is fundamental. See my previous post about Windsor Court.

I agree that it needs updating, especially the TV's, in some of the rooms. Some rooms have better ones already. I don't watch much TV when I'm in Nola, so that hasn't bothered me.
I've never used the stove. I eat out in Nola. I don't cook in the room. I like the big fridge, though. I use that.
If I need a microwave, I stay at Embassy Suites or somewhere like that, but I don't need one in Nola and there has never been a microwave in any room I've stayed in at WC, in all the years I've stayed there.
I've not had a light bulbissue or carpet buckling problem. Light bulbs do go out and they don't give notice. I would simply call housekeeping to come change the bulb. If I've called for anything, they've come right away. The service there is still excellent or has been in my experience. Take that back, I did have a bulb out earlier this year on a lamp in the living area. I called and they arrived within 5 minutes to replace it. I'd forgotten about that. It blew out when I turned the lamp on.
I've never had furniture fall apart. The patio doors have been stuck, probably because not many folks open them, but they've sent someone right away to take care of that.
They updated the concierge floors already, as I recall, and the other areas will be updated by the new owners.
I've gotten some good rates the last few times I've been there. I always stay in the rooms with the separate living room. I got rates under $200. Depends on the time of year, though.
If they charged you for the minibar, just call and they will take it off your bill. There was a charge once on my parents' bill. They took it right off. They've stayed there a gazillion times and that's the only time there's been a charge they didn't agree with. It wasn't a problem. No arguments. A credit was issued.
