All Louisiana Restaurants and Bars to Close at Midnight Tonight

Red Gravy restaurant posted the below. In another post, she said this is going to be announced by the Governor this afternoon. Have no idea how this works with bars... I guess we'll find out when the announcement is made.
"Red Gravy and every other restaurant and bar in Louisiana can serve in the dining rooms until midnight, tonight. After that, we can only offer takeout or delivery. Please, please please...I want to keep my staff on as much as possible. My servers, who normally make $3 an hour can make at least minimum wage, plus tips if I use them for delivery and not Ubereats, Grubhub, Doordash, or anything similar. Please, call your favorite restaurants (me included, I hope) to see if they are delivering directly, before going to the other sites. Especially GrubHub, which piggybacked illegally onto my site a month ago, and I still can't get them off. Please, let us do the delivery so I can keep the staff working."

Does anyone know if this is true? A statewide dining room ban?

You got a link Gris Gris? (Respectfully, of course)

Sorry. It's all on their Facebook page. She was updating in several posts and comments.

Here are a few of her other comments to one of her posts.
"It's not the city, it's from the Governor's office. All restaurants and bars in the state must close the dinign room. Takeout and delivery only. You can enter the restaurant for pick up. You can get a bottle of wine if we open it, and then put the cork back in."
"yes. Governor will make public announcement this afternoon....but all restaurants and bars in this state must close all dining rooms and bars to the public at midnight. 2-3 months closures."
She posted yesterday that the Louisiana Restaurant Association was having a meeting today. I assume it was phone or streamed. From what I can tell from the posts, this was announced during that meeting and will be publicized later by the governor.
I haven't been able to find anything else yet, though many restaurants were already posting about curbside and delivery.

Why would anyone pay 2-3x premium for a bottle of wine for take out?

Denver just did it till May 11th.

I just saw where someone asked if anyone had gone to the LRA meeting this morning and, if so, for any updates. A poster responded with the same information posted by Red Gravy. He also said "details to follow".

I agree. The only reason I can think of is for people visiting from out of town or staying in a hotel and don't have time to hit a liquor/grocery store.

The group that owns Sylvain, Cavan, Longway Tavern, Barrel Proof, and Meauxbeaux posted the same sort of thing, as well as Central City BBQ, Marjie's Grill, and Blue Giant.

Well, the good news is that the order does not say a minimum of 8 weeks as she posted in one comment nor does it say 2 or 3 months. It says until April 13th for now with a re-evaluation 7 days prior. That's not as bad as I originally thought from reading her posts. It's not good, but not as bad. Hopefully, the heat will come and slow things down if not kill the virus.

This is going to hurt everybody, don't get me wrong, but the fine dining places are gonna get hit the hardest. Ain't nobody going to order a $45 ribeye and stuff it in a styrofoam box to eat 20 minutes later.
I'm worried this is gonna kill the good places with the really talented chefs.

I’m sure the fine dining places won’t be putting premium product into styrofoam boxes, duh. Those chefs will be figuring out what works, in the context of their operations, for a takeout and delivery operation, if they want to stay open. Plenty of restaurants adapt in the wake of storms, boil water advisories, etc.
It’s not new ground to have to figure out how to make a buck with limited service. Or are y’all too young to remember the post Katrina inventiveness that popped up all around?

Where oh where will my last meal be tonight

This could be a boon for the food trucks.

Fortunately, a lot of restaurants have polished their to go game. I have to rewrite my schedule and figure out how to give everyone some hours to get by

it’s always easy to tell in the posts the posters who have never been an employer and never been a business owner.
the margins in the service industry are razor thin. You literally live from one week to the next. Just got off the phone with the owner of a restaurant we built, they laid off their hourly staff today and have averaged about 20 to go orders per day since the weekend
you go a couple weeks like that and you are out of business.
You have some favorite restaurants? Great. Order some food for pick up directly from the restaurant and encourage your friends to do the same.

ditto to cgrand
If this "to go" thing lasts into late April, or early May there will be 60% or more closures in the restaurant biz.
