Has anyone ever been? Thinking about a spring trip to Chicago and I'm wondering if I should give it a shot.

I have not been personally but I do have two close friends that went on separate occasions, both have said it was one of the most incredible experiences they have had.
It is obviously difficult to get a reservation so get the ressy first, then plan your trip around it.

Maybe it's because it's the winter, but they've plenty of open tables in October and November. I'm assuming the spring may be a little harder.

Yes. Definitely give it a shot. Truly unique experience. i can honestly still describe most of the dishes.
getting a reservation was like hacking into the pentagon. Not sure how there are plenty of open tables that you're seeing. The reservations go live the same day each month and sell out within minutes.

I’m looking at their website. I don’t think I’m going nuts. Check it out when you get a minute and let me know.

i could be going nuts, it's been a long day, but every individual date i click on in october and november says "Alinea has sold out all reservations for 2 guests on Oct 4. Try another party size or date" for example

By every publication, it's a top restaurant in the US so I would hope it's nice.

Uh what.
I just went and looked. I'm sure as shite not seeing tons of reservations. I found a few in November and October for a group of 4 at mostly off times, but not a single one for 2.

One of the top restaurants in the world with 3 michelin stars that is in the top 25 of the world's best every year is hella nice, ya don't say

also people actually scalp tickets so check Alinea's facebook page and people will be selling their tickets for certain dates pretty consistently
Posted on 10/1/19 at 4:48 pm to BigPerm30
Haven’t been but it’s in my list.
As I understand it, they use a ticketing system in lieu of reservations so be prepared to pay up front.
But it’ll be worth every penny.

Go look on Netflix at Chef’s table for the episode with Grant Achatz. He’s got a remarkable story.

I second that. His book is also a great read.

I'll take a look. Have not been to Chicago in a while.

I'd say that one and Mossimo Botura's are the two best.
A definite watch

They’ve got 25 Chefs for 70 reservations a night. That’s a pretty intense.
