18 Steak and L'Auberge trending down?

I have some friends who live near L'Auberge so it's convenient place to go for an easy night of entertainment. So over the last couple years I've dined with them at 18, and then lost some dollars at various games.
18 never seemed like a great experience but usually acceptable, so we made the easy decision to do it again recently.
As usual, there were about 4 tables occupied, and we were welcomed by the manager and the waiter told us of his upcoming wedding, etc. Drinks were eventually delivered and orders taken. My gf and I decided to split the Wagyu Flight... supposedly 3 small cuts of various Wagyu, ordered Medium. And a few sides to share among the four of us.
Our waiter was pretty much invisible throughout the meal. First cut into my steak I noticed that it was very rare, but thought "I'll keep trying", but eventually just realized that it was too much work to eat. Finally, the manager stops by to check on us, and I ask him to have our steak cooked a little more, and he does, and returns with it... still rare, but we continue, but it was tough and griselly. Oh well, $65 steak, cooked improperly, poor quality and weak service. Lesson learned. Last trip to 18.
Evidently, the casino was bought by someone? I used to wander about the casino, sip dollar Miller Lites and lose more dollars than I care to admit. Now I'm politely informed by the girl at the center little beer booth that Lites are $4 unless your a VIP member (and mentioned something about new owners? I think)
Hmmm... okay... well, heck. So much for a convenient night of entertainment.
Trend or just an off night at the boat?

Blame it on the smoking ban.

I've been to 18 Steak once and it was horrible which is a shame because it is a nice restaurant with good views
The casino will never go away
ETA: I'm thankful for the smoking ban on a personal note, but this state continues to prove it's inability to collect tax money through very easy avenues.

I always heard the restaurant was average at best.
Beer cost money when you're gambling now?

When was it ever trending up? I’ve been there three times since it opened and the meals have always been mediocre for the price of the meal.

How’s a rare steak tough to eat? Wagu isn’t supposed to be tough.

Yea, that's what I thought.
You heard me right. $4 domestic beers in the casino. And I like to tip a buck, so $5 to hang out and lose money. Someone else will have to update, cause I won't be back anytime soon.

Either that won't last long or they won't last long

Drinks are free while you’re playing

I gotcha. I guess he is talking about the people walking around the floor not playing

I don’t think I’ve ever paid just walking around either
usually a cocktail waitress will take your order and throw them a tip

Yea word. I've never asked for a drink if im actually just walking around. If im watching my friend play roulette, I'll ask for a drink and tip
They don't give a shite

I thought they just opened a couple million dollar smoking deck overlooking the river with games?
I’ve never been in that facility so I can’t confirm. I’ve got a better chance of getting my twenty back from the dude at Siegan Racetrac who is trying to get to Pensacola but has car trouble than I do a craps table.
