It's been posted elsewhere, but here's the current forecast for the area...

Mississippi River Forecast/Crest

On another note, my main concern is more of security... when I was at UNO studying this stuff I did a paper on ORCS, and got some pretty good pictures of Morganza, etc, very up close and personal. In fact, too up close and personal. If I were the Corps, I'd put a few more patrols around the area. It's wayyy too easy for someone with ulterior motives to redirect the Mississippi river at high stage when something like this happens.

Does anybody know of any webcams in Baton Rouge with views of the river? I googled and the best I could find was this.

Does anyone know how this compares to the flood of 73. I have three sisters that live in Jonesville and they are terrified.

I've read them, brah. It sucks.

NOLA seems to be okay, though...unless the river busts loose.

Apparently, '73 couldn't hold '11's jock even if it had Johnny Bench's hands.

I remember as a child travelling the levee from roseland plantation to deer park and seeing them working on the top of the levee and on the other side backwater as far as you could see deer everywhere on any scrap of land that wasnt underwater, hwy 28 between pineville and texaco town was covered with water, we had a cotton trailer in the yard in case the levee broke we were to load as much stuff as we could in it and get out

And the New York times would praise it as genius the next day. I'm glad some things have changed in the last 85 years. .
