BC like most things (Tsunami, nuke meltdown, tornadoes) is old news. Morganza is where it's at for now.

Just got this from my Family in Morganza:
Stay away from Morganza tomorrow morning, You can see more on TV. There are communication vehicles in every possible parking place. Traffic has been impossible all day and you can't stop at all. I worked for the Corps for 33 years and I can't get to the spillway.

a trip across hwy 190 about 12 hours after Morganza opens might be intresting

At least it won't be a regular rush hour traffic day tomorrow. Breakdowns, wrecks, extra slow or extra fast vehicles cause all sorts of traffic problems on a good day over the spillways. Just imagine an 18 wheeler rear ending some yankee :) stopped on an elevated to take pictures with their cell phone. Every time I see the Whiskey Bay sign up ahead I expect to see flashing lights in my rearview.
Ya'll be careful now, ya here?

Morganza had little traffic today. I went across and stopped at the ORCS for pictures. Didn't stop at Morganza. I would recommend going to Morganza and ORCS next week. I would recommend going to the ORCS anytime even not flooding just to see how it works. There is a visitors center I would like to go back when it is open.

Next weekend is when things will be at their worst.
However the dispair of others is not really a sight seeing trip. You will be in the way more than anything of people who actually have business there.

Yep. The gates were locked at the office yesterday, and every road was being patrolled by deputies. There are better places to be. Just drive over the Atchafalaya Freeway Sunday after lunch and you will see all the water you want.

Agree, but Fox News and others will make money off of south Louisiana's misfortune. So I say go check it out, stay out of the way and offer to help if the chance arises.

Can somebody go sit on a balcony overlooking the big curve in the river in NOLA, bring a laptop and livestream for a bit? Maybe there are big ships trying to make it around the curve but with water going so fast, it could be an interesting thing to witness?
