apparently a catastrophic loss of life and property and a resultant multi-billion dollar class action liabilty can't deter stupidity.

the government should not have to shut down river traffic right now, people shouldn't be so retarded.

what is the difference between operating a barge in high winds with water this high and getting behind the wheel while loaded?

seems the same type of punishment would be in order

jesus what a cluster frick. you think they would find a way to make sure this didn't happen after katrina
You're the second person to reference katrina. What happened with barges for katrina?

Also, there's ABSOLUTELY NO PHUCKIN reason that should happened.

A barge broke loose and rammed into the wall of the Industrial Canal near the lower 9th ward during Katrina.

Seems like I'm remembering something being said now. Did it end up causing any harm?

WHAT! I thought the water level rising/running over caused the breach in the levee. Dam!

Hell of alot of difference. driving drunk is illegal. Operating a barge on the river when the river is open for traffic is not illegal.
