Snake drafts are so god damn boring. It's the same thing every time..everyone has a sheet with all the players ranked, then they just predictably pick them in relative order. Adrian Peterson, then Leveon Bell or Jamaal Charles, etc etc. There's little skill involved.

The auction draft on the other hand is 2 hours of total warfare. You can get any player you want. Want Eddy Lacy and Antonio Brown? You got it bro, but you aren't going to have any depth. You can get in bidding wars with people, seeing how far you can run up your opponent to drain his cash. You can nominate average players early in the draft and watch trigger happy bidders overbid. If you want, you can lay low and wait for people to spend all their money, then swoop in when everyone's poor (I don't recommend this strategy, though).

I have a league with an auction every year and the draft is so much more entertaining than the other leagues. I recommend yall try it next year if you haven't.

I much prefer it. I screwed up my budget and had too much money left when all the good players were off the board, but I still like my team.

I'm thinking of doing another league next year with the only stipulation being an auction draft. I've heard nothing but good things.

Snake drafts give everyone well balanced teams.

Auction drafts can give you top heavy studs in your lineup with no bench or a team full of depth. I like getting players I've talked about all preseason.

Auction drafts are the only way to go. I despise snake drafts.

I prefer snake. It is the OG. Sitting through a 3+ he auction draft can be really  snake 2 hrs and you're done. The key to either draft is to find value and have an idea of which players are any good.

I want to try an auction league but my leagues refuse to budge.

No one wants to try it.

What did you do to get the league to switch?

I talk it up every year and nobody bites.

i like both but my teams come out better in a snake draft. I can still count on 2 hands the amount of auction drafts i have done, though. I changed my strategy up this year so we'll see how that works

We always have used it since we started 6 years ago. Once we did a snake draft and it was a snooze fest.

All my other leagues use snake drafts and it's just a bunch of people who know what players they want and get impatient when people take too much time.

i didn't/don't draft like that in snake drafts everytime. And I know its not a popular thing to do but I never pay attention to a player's ADP either.

if you've had a guy in mind before you draft and he's there at your pick... take him.

but auction drafts are cool.

i've done them the last 5 years or so and the participation has always been great. People in our league get lazy as the season goes on keeping up with stuff but can't say that for the draft.

Agree 100%.

7 leagues this year, 6 auction, 1 snake.

I agree, I think a lot of people don't want to do auctions because they are lazy or not knowledgable about players. Anyone can sit in a snake draft and draft the next available player in a list.

Anyone can end up with a solid drafted team. If you don't know what you're doing in an auction, you're fricked. Love auctions

Thought I was screwed with so many receivers on my team. Team with AP and Hill with a 0 point receiver so far... :)

Auction definitely encourages trading and allows you to draft YOUR team. Way more fun and much more strategizing to be successful.
