Puka Nacua and Brock Bowers are on the waiver wire this week in my knockout league. I have $1000. How much should I bid for each?

Puka is about to be available in both of the guillotine leagues we have on here. I doubt you'll get an honest answer.

If you have Gibbs and Bijan, save your money for a while. I'd target mid tier players to fill out the rest of your roster bc some of those guys are suspect.

But Daniels+Gibbs+Bijan should keep you put of trouble for a few weeks

I'd put in 5 for bowers and no more. We have no clue when he's actually going to return.

Puka getting 300 because we know who he is.

Bid nothing if your team is good. Only bid on players in guillotine when you have to. The person with money in late October and November always wins.

If your team needs another stud to survive, obviously you need to bid, but Puka will go for $500+ in week 1 in most leagues.

$300 is not winning Puka after week 1

I think it will in my league. Most people are very patient.

30-35%. To me all this depends on if you need the player some of them like Puka are generational and worth the bid they’ll go high in the first few weeks anyway.

As an FYI, Bijan went for $800 and Devonta Smith went for $200 in my 17 team $1000 league.

I started a season-long thread where everyone can post winning bids for players if you want to add yours.

Boy was I wrong. CeeDee went for over 500 (next closest was under 300)

I like these leagues because there’s so many different dynamics and strategies to take. Some people say not to bid at all at the beginning of the season, sounds good in theory until you catch a random off week and get eliminated in week 3 (happened to my “good” team last season). Saving your bids does you no good if you are eliminated.

My strategy this year was to grab the best player in week 1, and ride with my 5 player core (Lamar, Saquon, CeeDee, Nico, Loveland) over the next 7 weeks before having to spend again. We’ll see if it pays off.

I did this last year. I had a core of Gibbs, JSN, Tyler Warren and Justin Herbert. I spent real big to get Jonathon Taylor early and it carried me to the final four I believe. It's a strategy that can work. You just need to have others with more FAAB than you to get eliminated.

Eta: But, as you say, you can't win the league if you can't advance. I am kind of in that position now in one of our guillotine leagues. Also, one injury can kill you. I am having that issue with Zay Flowers in that league now.
