Yes that happens, but the point is to add some additional strategy to the game, because its not always a pitching blowout. So you there may be contention in all of the rate stats so you have to decide to throw guys to add QS, SV+Holds, or IP. Do you want to risk giving up the rates stats you have to try and capture volume cats? etc.

that aspect is there whether you give points for IP or not, because of the IP threshold set by the league.

Thats just a min. It add another element of strategy with our thin benches also. People can sacrifice bats to have deeper pitcher benches.
