I agree with your principle, but I’ll add that teams out of it would have no motivation to meet those requirements

Thank you.

But then why hold them to IP requirements?

We want the best teams in this league 1-20 that compete 19 weeks of the season but the system is set up to only hold everyone to being half as competitive as they could be.

I actually wish I had thought of it last season when I had Scherzer, deGrom, Stras and Yu. I would have beefed up my RP then started Daniel Murphy and 8 bench players/milb players who had MLB time.

And you would have lost all six hitting cats just about every week.

The Rays fricking with their starting rotation has made some of y’all nuts.

That’s not the point. Are you going to add it in the off-season or not?

Nobody cares about a rule issue until it happens to them.

Nobody cares outside of Swam.

It’s really a shame that rule proposes are so quickly dismissed.

Swam, I'll comment strictly from my teams perspective:

I've obviously been out of contention since early in the season. As incosistant as my O has been this year, I think everyone can look at my team and agree that my pitching is still behind my O as far as future outlook goes. So why would it make sense for me to add a few bench bats and move them in & out of my lineup on days where there are only a few mlb games being played? Considering how weak my pitching is, specifically my SP, I much rather fill those additional bench spots with young pitchers to see if I get lucky by one or two of those young arms become someone I'll consider keeping beyond this season. So that's exactly what did.

By your yearly comparison, my AB/week is probably lower this year than previous year. Maybe for some teams it is lack of participation as you described it. But you'll likely have to do it as a team by team comparison to figure out if there is any other context as to why ABs are down. As with my team, it can be other things contributing to lack of ABs.

Also seems like there were 10x as many rainouts and postponed games this season. How many ABs has that cost teams? If some of those games haven't been made up yet, then losing those ABs has nothing to do with league owners.

Also maybe some teams got hit hard by injuries to their bats this season and that's why their ABs are down. Who knows? Point is there may be other factors effecting weekly ABs than just broadly describing it as lack of participation.

H2H does nothing for this league. A league this complex that uses H2H just doesn’t make sense. Y’all can keep trying to cover deficiencies by changing rules only to have another pop up as a result

You either just accept the imperfections of the H2H or devise a new scoring system

Swam mentioned checking his stats vs all teams, that’s something I enjoy more that my individual matchup. Makes you think of something is there in regards to awarding wins to the top half scorers and losses to bottom half scorers. Similar to the football scoring

This isn’t as much about having a rule to enforce as it is promoting an active and competitive league. Off the top of my head, DeJong was added in late July last year. It’s not like I’m talking about Story 2.0, but I’m saying maybe telling teams you need to trawl the FA to make requirement s forces them to add the next DeJong.

That and it makes a team that was in it in May still give a damn when they can alter outcomes against contending teams.

Already did it. No point in pointing teams out as it wouldn’t really shock anyone and I’m not calling for anyone to be singled out.

It’s a pretty significant decline that I doubt anything outher than management being the factor. Will be happy to look again in 3 weeks.

Isn’t this a committee member?

A committee member completely dismissing an issue an owner brings up for discussion

1. Check yourself.
2. I always put rule proposals up for a vote in the off-season.
3. Check yourself again.

Furthermore, I’m more than happy to give up my spot on the committee if anyone wants it. That was designed to be a revolving assignment anyway.

I ask every off season for rule change suggestions. Name one time I didn’t put one up for a vote.

I’ve asked for three.

You eventually put one up, but not at my request

I’m not bashing you. It’s more of everyone. Like I said, nobody cares about an issue until it happens to them.

I enjoy the league, bruh.

fwiw, there's been 13 instances of teams not getting 150 ABs this year, but only twice did they miss the 2.8 AB/game.

There's been 10 instances of teams missing the IP minimum.
