After tests today, the Chiefs believe Travis Kelce’s ACL is intact, per source. There is inflammation in his knee, and they will test it again Wednesday to determine his availability for Thursday night vs. the Lions.

Phew. Drafted him 1st round in both leagues

Tests showed that all of Chiefs TE Travis Kelce’s ligaments are intact, though the knee hyperextension has caused swelling. Based on timing, probably unlikely he plays Thursday but that’ll all come down to how fast the swelling goes down, per sources.

Line shifted from -6 to -4.5 pretty quickly, anticipate that’s a no go for Kelce

#Chiefs Travis Kelce is EXPECTED to miss the game vs #Lions. #ChiefsKingdom
After his rookie year in 2013, Travis Kelce hasn't missed a single game due to injury. All signs point to Kelce having a 1-2 week injury.
Not a confirmed source via X. FWIW I am not sure I’d play Kelce even if he does suit up. If you have the bench flexibility might want to snag a fill-in.
A few options worth looking at if available:
- LAC Everett
- NO Johnson
- DET LaPorta (bigger wk 1 risk but not a bad season stash)

Spoke to #Panthers RB Miles Sanders, who clarified that he was only actually sidelined with his groin injury for seven days and returned to practice after the preseason. He’s healthy.

Was hoping by some miracle Kupp would play.

I've got a bad feeling that he's about to miss half the season. His bye week isn't until week 10. So, at least if he's misses 6 or 7 games you don't have to worry about them holding him out until after the bye.

I doubt that. I think they’ll place him on IR and he’ll play again around Week 5. How long he will play for after that is anyone’s guess.
From the interview, it sounds like the specialist treated the nerve instead of the hamstring and they’ll know whether or not it’s the nerve or the hamstring as the root of the problem in the next few days to see if the nerve responded to the treatment. If it’s the nerve, he’s going on IR. If it’s still the hammy, they’ll play wait and see.

The #Chiefs plan to put star TE Travis Kelce through a workout this morning to test his injured knee, per source.
Just two days after hyperextending the knee and suffering a bone bruise in practice, Kelce is a true game-day decision for tonight’s opener vs. the #Lions

Man, seems a little risky to throw him out there. He must REALLY be pushing to play
Posted on 9/7/23 at 8:25 am to WicKed WayZ
I’d be happy with them just bringing him in in redzone situations

BREAKING: Travis Kelce is OUT for tonight’s season opener vs the #Lions, per sources.
I’m told the #Chiefs’ All-Pro TE made a strong push to play after this morning’s workout, but the team did not want to risk anything with a full season of games ahead.

That’s for the best, unfortunately. I wouldn’t doubt if he was out next week too.
I’m going against Mahomes tonight so this makes things look better for me. But watch him still go for 300 and 3 TDs
