Port's a fan of good baseball

I like them both. I usually go to a few Rangers games a year. Don't make it to KC that much.

Port
Starting Lineup: 45.15 (7th)
The first thing I notice is the age of the main guys in the lineup. If they remain healthy, they'll produce. They've proven that time and time again. Ethier needs a bounceback year. I've lost my faith in Quentin, especially after the injury.
Pitching: 43.96 (7th)
No studs, but no clunkers either. I personally don't like Wandy and I think Liriano is too inconsistent, but CBS doesn't hate either. Not sure about Chacin.
Bench: 10.39 (8th)
CBS loves them some Nolan Reimold. Not sold, personally. Davis will be a great spot start if steals are up for grabs, and if Rizzo gets the call, I'd love to see what he can do.
Overall: 99.51 (6th)
Maybe a tad overrated due to no stud power in any category, but that's not always important. Port is active enough that he could make noise if he doesn't give up too early on his team.

Toula
Starting Lineup: 52.36 (2nd)
Dude has it all. Power (Fielder, Teixeira, Cano), speed (Bourn, Crisp), and guys that do both (Upton, Hanley). This team will put up some serious numbers.
Pitching: 43.91 (8th)
Halladay and a bunch of question marks. I won't bring up Hanson. Everyone knows. I really don't know what to expect out of Lilly or Johan. OK in the bullpen.
Bench: 8.66 (10th)
I like this bench better than CBS does, apparently. Good options for both speed and power.
Overall: 104.93 (5th)
I'd like this team more if it had just one more above average starter on the staff. The offense is just plain sick. Maybe Bauer blows up when he gets called up, or if he doesn't, he can move him and another piece in exchange for a top end pitcher for the rotation. Either way, he will contend.

damn..I thought I'd have a top 3 bench in the league..I like the flexibility to put in speed or power if needed

Bauer/Arenado are my Strasburg/Jennings for this year. If they aren't up and producing for the playoff push, I'll move them for production.
ETA--yes, worrying about Hanson and Halladay makes my a-hole clinch

Interesting to see that 5 of the top 6 teams in these rankings were in the playoffs last year. Not that it's worth anything. I believe my team right now is anywhere from 6-11 ish. The top 5 match up with how I would rank them. I would have Lester and Rondo pretty close though.

Clams
Starting Lineup: 52.97 (1st)
Someone let me know the week that Toula and Clams play. I gotta check out that matchup. This team is also jacked up. I like the top end of this lineup more than Toula's, but the bottom end does have a couple of question marks in Morneau and Alonso.
Pitching: 45.60 (5th)
Kershaw is the stud, with good supporting guys like Masterson, Zimmermann, and Garcia. Nothing flashy. Good bullpen.
Bench: 7.21 (13th)
Lots of pick and hope guys here in Volstad, Britton, DeJesus, and Garrett Jones. frick Mike Aviles. I agree with CBS in this being a weakness.
Overall: 105.79 (4th)
Ultimately, the weak bench cost Clams two spots in the rankings, but he's still in great shape. If he doesn't make the playoffs, he fricked up royally.

someone just learned about BABIP...
I've been knowing about BABIP since you were hitting off a tee.
Just come some people over use it doesn't mean its not valuable. I only use it when guys are 30-40 points above and below their career averages.

I wish I ould have kept Cruz and Hardy to be honest. I like Cabs though.
Posted on 3/20/12 at 1:18 pm to PortCityTiger24
Hardy was the guy I was hoping would fall to me in the 3rd. I like his power at SS.

When Cruz and Hardy get hurt you'll be happy

Gyno
Starting Lineup: 41.51 (9th)
No ultimate stud per se, but guys that could explode this year, like Cruz and Bruce. Weak at 3B and C, but I like the overall mix of speed and power.
Pitching: 57.34 (1st)
To me, Gyno's pitching staff is more impressive than Clams or Toula's offense. Just sick. He may have to forfeit QS in some weeks, because Lee, Felix, and Hamels could win him ERA and WHIP by themselves. Saves are plentiful as well.
Bench: 8.98 (9th)
Couple of young guys in Kipnis and Brown. Good job. I predict guys like Roberts, McGehee, and Rodriguez get the early boot from Team Giraffe.
Overall: 107.83 (3rd)
His pitching will get him the playoffs alone. I really think he gets enough pop from Cruz, Bruce, and Pena, and enough speed from Stubbs and Gardner to make him competitive in offense each week. True title contender, for sure.

I think this is the year Cruz stays healthy and gets back to being that top 10 guy.
