Non-Texans do not seem to understand this about Texas. Youth sports is a real big deal in this state, and there is zero support for boys in girls sports with anyone that has children. I have said it before here, but trans in sports and immigration is larger than abortion in Texas, and Texas has a freaking ban on abortion. Let that sink in.

It is a hobby...but, if one delves a little deeper than most...anyone can do it.

Unfortunately, we are lazy in this country....as a rule.

yes

To me it's worse when people think they're educated about this but are just listening to other people's sharing other people's work

where the critical thinking and examination?

I hope he wins because its better than the alternative, but all he does is bloviate and never actually accomplishes anything.

I agree Newsweek is tending to move to the center. I often listen to Batya Unger-Sargon on YouTube channels such as Megyn and Bridgett Phetasy. Batya is a Newsweek politics editor. She is a classic New York liberal but she is also a Trump fan. That is because she sees hm as a movement politician who has taken the GOP in the direction of the common man. Democrats are elitists and don't get common folk anymore.
And Batya is a babe.

as bad a candidate that cruz is, allred's positions make him a non-starter for a lot of folks

This! Almost everyone I know around here (Houston for 32 years) really hates Cruz. He isn't at all great for our state. He spends a lot more time on national interests than on the State of Texas. He seems about as cocky and unlikeable as they come. But even though Allred seems like a great guy (much more likeable than Ted), that girl's sports vote cost him dearly! We are voting Cruz to get his national vote in the Senate, even though he pretty much ignores the State of Texas.

Here's my petty list of things that make me hate him:

1. Optics - he is bad, bad, bad at them. Leaving Texas to vacation in Cancun when half the state had no power was a bad look. Here is what he said about that...“With school canceled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon.” He thinks the rules don't apply to him.
2. The Cruz Curse - Texas/Houston teams lose big games when he attends. Instead of playing along, he claps back.
3. He is very smart, but he is the know it all in the room who lets everyone know how smart he is.

My mom loved him when she lived in Shreveport. Now that she's been in Houston for 8 months, she sees why he's not liked in his own state, even though we vote for him.

I cannot even imagine it, but even right-leaning Newsweek is saying it could happen. What did he do to frick up that badly?

No Dem has won a statewide election in Texas in over 30 years.

Ted Cruz might lose

The Beto election was the best bet the Dems had as Cruz was weakened by battles.

Cruz is stronger now than he was then.

The big cities - San Antonio, Dallas, Austin and Houston vote Dem.

The rest of the state votes Rep.

Cruz should cruise to a win.

If he wins, he needs to start thinking about retiring after 18 years. Because sooner or later he will be unelected.

What does a senator do for an ice storm exactly?

What did Cornyn do?

What should he do? Not look like an uncaring piece of shite on a tropical vacation! Stay home and keep your mouth shut.

Cornyn stayed home and kept his mouth shut. Therefore, he didn't become the story.

what a crock of sheet.

Let me guess, you're a voter who votes for the candidate who makes you feel good and is nicer?

Low IQ voters are the worst.

She is quite an attractive woman in a slightly unconventional sense... like middle eastern meets black Irish kind of way.

Cornyn does a fantastic job of letting Cruz eat all the shite

The freeze was miserable. My house was 40 degrees and no water for 4 days mostly because our natural gas plants weren't winterized.

Going to cancun was an incredibly retarded decision and he deserves all the shite he gets for it. All he had to do was nothing

Nope, 100% wrong. I'm Trump all the way and as far from being touchy/feely as you can possibly get. CPA, CFO, I bet I'm a more analytical thinker than most men. I'm always the one saying no, rolling my eyes, not falling for the sad story. I'm saying he's an a-hole that thinks things don't apply to him because he's smarter than everyone else. Isn't that the definition of being elitest? Politicians need to pay attention to optics. He thinks they don't matter. It's made him a very hated politician in his own state. I never said I didn't vote for him. Have voted for him every time. In fact, I don't think I've ever voted democrat since I started voting in 1979.
