They don't understand that it's actually this type of knee-jerk bullshite rhetoric that fueled the result. I'm pretty sure states that voted twice for Obama (and would have voted a third time) going red is not some major indicator of racism.

Looking at the current vote totals, and listening to the melt tune of "very divided nation".....are they stupid or just neglecting the OTHER 50% of the population who did not even bother to vote?
Vote totals are about 120 million right now, ~90%, USA population somewhere around 300-320 million last I saw.

I feel stunned and heartbroken. I voted not only for my own future yesterday, but for the future of our child. The fact that our nation's leader will soon be a hateful, misogynistic, racist bigot- and that the first years of my child's life will be spent under his power- scare, sicken, and sadden me. Like many others, I feel deeply ashamed of my fellow Americans that allowed this to happen. Trump's America will never be my reality. My child will be taught respect, love, kindness, and work ethic- qualities that should still stand for something in this country and values that only one of the candidates in this election represented. As a woman, teacher, and soon-to-be mother, I am so incredibly disappointed.
