Touch and go here. So if a food stamp recipient is busted for smoking pot what ya gonna do, starve the kids because of it?.... Tough call!

No, but I want welfare to go away altogether. We have unemployment and disability already. What purpose does welfare serve that another program doesn't already cover?

In principle, it makes sense. But in practice, it costs more than it's worth.

Hell yeah! Anytime you are getting an unearned subsidy tax free, there has to be conditions.

If they are on drugs, how can they ever get a job that is significant enough to get them off of welfare. Let them know that they have no Cartete Blanche in this matter.

I find this position highly dubious.

How much does a single drug test cost? Now if failure would disqualify you for a whole year, how much money would be saved by catching even one drug user? If you can pay for 5 drug tests with one month's entitlement, then if you catch one out of 60 users, you're breaking even.

To make it even more cost effective, don't drug test everyone at regular intervals, test randomly at irregular intervals. Make it impossible to predict. You don't have to test everyone, simply create a sense of plausibility that someone could be tested at any time, and failure means a no-bullshite immediate suspension of entitlement funding.

I know some say it's infringes on their rights and all....but what say the rant?
The rant said freedom and liberty should go frick itself.

I'm betting these are self-proclaimed conservatives who actually believe that taking our freedoms and liberties will make America great.
