They had large baking hens priced at $.99 a lb. and I picked up a few to put in the freezer. Prefer them to fryers when making gumbo and chicken noodle soup since they have more flavor.

They also had boneless sirloin tip roasts on sale for $3.99 a lb. with very little trimming needed.

It’s hard to walk into a rouses these days. I know they’re all around but they’re almost always out of something, produce looks meh, meat meh and almost always a line to check out.

No such problem with any of that today. Tons of fresh produce with nothing I noticed out of stock. Full coolers of meat products, but a lot of it not on sale was pricier than last year.

I walked straight up to the checkout counter and actually had 3 to choose from that had nobody in line.

This was the Rouses store on Vets near Causeway.

They had a nationwide recall of bagged lettuce. It’s been that way for a couple of weeks

The Rouses flyer in the paper says drumsticks and thighs on sale for $.88 a lb.

This is in the N.O. area.

As much as I liked the Rouse's in Thibodaux, the one on Tchoup makes me want to blow my brains out every time I go there.

Agreed. How is it that the Rouse's in the nicest part of NOLA (uptown) makes the DMV in a Stephen King movie look nice??? The Rouse across the river in Gretna is very nice and even the one in Belle Chasse down by the JRB is decent.

I've only been in that store once, not long after it first opened.

Most of my shopping at Rouses is done either at the Carrollton Ave. store in Mid-City since it is the closest to my house, or the one on Vets.

Rouses in Gretna is the best Rouses in New Orleans, including the fancy one in Mandeville.

For some reason all the big box retail is much better on the Westbank.
