Why didn’t Padme, as a successful Queen, purchase Anakin Skywalker’s mother out of slavery?

Anakin would be a successful Jedi without worrying about his mother.

I’m probably just making an excuse for a plot hole but Watto basically told Qui Gon that he couldn’t afford to lose two slaves

Years later, Watto sold Shmi to the moisture farmer Cliegg Lars, who bought her to live with him on his moisture farm.[6] Four years after the Invasion of Naboo, Senator Amidala sent her handmaiden Sabe to track down Shmi and free as many slaves as she could. Sabe was unsuccessful in tracking down Watto or Shmi, being forced to instead waste time dealing with Watto's associates.[7

Why did she wait four years to do this?

Padme wasn’t that wealthy, she was only in politics for a few years before becoming queen. They’re not filthy rich until they’ve been in the game for 40+ years.

Why didn't Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan simply thank Jar Jar for his services and move on?

Why didn't they cast a 14 year old to play Anakin?

When the ship broke down, why didn't the eagles just fly them to Naboo?

Because having an elected queen is stupid.

The biggest plot hole of the entire movie is why the hell do you try to kill Jedi with a visible gas? Nobody is buying that Jedi just drop dead, so just fricking blow their ship up and then execute some no name low level guy for being a terrorist.

- Why did the Council not send more Jedi to Naboo? Especially with them knowing about Darth Maul after Qui Gon told them about the duel on Tattoine.

- Why did Qui Gon take Anakin back to a warzone in Naboo instead of leaving him in Coruscant?

- Why did the Jedi not investigate who Darth Maul was after the events of TPM?

Why? George Lucas is a shitty director who is clueless when left unchecked.

You should watch the RedLetterMedia reviews that explain in detail why the prequels suck.

That was part of the reason the Jedi Council initially refused to trail Anakin. The Jedi takes them away as young as possible to avoid personal attachments. Obi Wan chose to train Anakin against Yoda's wished mainly because Qui Gon wanted him trained. Yoda was right.

As for Padme not paying Watto, I have a least 2 reasons:

1. Republic Credits are useless in the outer rim

2. The Jedi wouldn't want Anakin's mom around because she would be a distraction to his training and would requested Padme not do that.

That’s the stupid part? How about having a 14 year old girl as head of state?

I just didn't want to flesh it all out for the umpteenth time.

Many of these odd choices, like elected queens, "balance" and a trade embargo being the worst thing someone can do - were all signs that the prequels had heavy Chinese influence. George was ahead of his time.

Well, if you don't train Anakin, he doesn't become a Jedi. Palpatine was grooming him from the word "go" and was able to groom and manipulate him while having and unassuming mole to learn all of the inner workings on the Jedi Order at all levels. It would have been much harder for him to turn Anakin into a Sith without the Jedi order because he was Chancellor and in the public spotlight.

The Republic/Empire isn't exactly in good shape right now based upon the last film.

That’s made up in the PT. There is nothing in the OT to suggest that Jedi had to be celibate orphans.

The question is based on the PT. Shouldn't the answer also be revealed from the PT?

Also, the PT is a Lucas creation like the OT. I think I'm good.
