Watching the McNeese replay, a few notes

1. Cody Orgeron is, in fact, Ed Orgeron’s son, in case any of you didn’t know. And the biggest baby born in Louisiana. His mom is Kramer Robinson, per sources
2. Jack Bech is fast as ram piss and will be a force by mid season if utilized correctly. Dude is so smooth. Need to get him the ball as much as possible. Rolling Max to the left with Bech on a crossing route seems like it should be called more often. I’d like to see him used as a slot receiver like we used Jets in ‘19. Excited to watch him develop, hope like hell he’ll stay around if O is canned.
3. Summer of 10,000 catches needs to come back YESTERDAY. Good LORD. Mickey Joseph needs to earn his damn check.
4. Our O-line is not SEC caliber to say the least. Execution and effort are abysmal. They’d look decent in pass protect a few plays, then they’d look horrible. They can’t open a hole for our Rbs to run through to save their life. Can we ask for a waiver and use the transfer portal to get Dare Rosenthal back?
4. Max looks like you’d expect a sophomore to look, but I thought he’d make more strides going into this year than he has thus far. Accuracy is the biggest issue. I think Nuss commands the offense better and will end up starting. He’s more accurate and has better pocket presence, seems more confident in his abilities than Max. Doesn’t hesitate to sling it. inb4 backup qb is best qb.
5. DB’s looked great, albeit against McNeese.
6. D-line showed big flashes, albeit against McNeese. Think delayed blitzes with lockdown coverage is the only way to hide our deficiencies at linebacker. Ojulari is much a man coming off the edge. Andre Anthony is a bright spot also. Maason Smith is a grown arse man.
Overall, I think our defense showed some improvement and gelled. Will be interesting to see if they continue gel as a unit and handle CMU like they should. I think if our offense sleepwalks through the 1st and Max struggles, we’ll see Nuss sooner than later. Get our shite together and execute his game and Ms St, we can build some momentum going into the Auburn game. We’ll see.
Win, loss, blowout or struggle, I’ll be watching and will remain in my recliner and not leave it’s loving embrace at halftime. Aramark concessions are barred from my house. You baws going to the game have fun. GEAUX TIGERS!!

I mean, I do think we should be better on OL, especially against McNeese, but we were down 3 starters from our starting unit.
Four if you count Dare.
We are forcing a lot of young guys in right now. It may suck today, but it will pay dividends later this year.

True. Losing Dare really stings now. What’d you think of Max’s performance vs what Nuss showed?

Max has limitations.
Nuss came out firing downfield and that’s something Max lacks. It’s short/intermediate passing when he’s in and his lack of accuracy hurt us vs UCLA. If you can’t be a great downfield passer, you better be accurate where you can throw.
It’s why everyone wants Nuss because he gives you an extra dimension down the field which could lead to better running lanes for our RBs.
Losing Brennan was the biggest issue. He can sling it and trusts his arm strength.

Bech glides when he runs but with the force of a lion.
He has. Very bright future.

Big time. The play where Max just flung the damn ball vs UCLA showed a lot of where he’s at maturity wise. Nuss is more capable in my eyes. Everyone in fall camp was raving about Nuss lighting it up. I think he would’ve made the throws Max barely missed vs UCLA and we may have been able to beat em with Nuss playing. Do you think he’ll be starting by the time we take on Auburn?

I'm not biting like I did after Vandy last year, saying the defense has improved. Let's play a quality opponent first.

Is it me or has peetz been calling a lot more roll outs to Max’s right?
Probably hasn’t figured out he’s a lefty yet.

Same here. We’re still getting gashed. Lb’s have got to improve. Run defense hasn’t been for shite thus far.

Brennan would be dead by now
No pocket passer was going to make it behind this OL w our RBs in pass protection
Nussmeier will be starting shortly b/c he is the most mobile w the arm strength to throw on the run
Which LSU QBs will have to do behind this line

I stopped reading at Kramer Robinson. This message board really is garbage.

This is the consequence of not developing linemen.

The recruiting miss in 2019 is killing the OL today with only one OL contributing from that group in Turner; Thomas and Bradford were completely overrated by everyone.

He came into a 24-0 game at then end of the 3rd where it was clear McNeese wasn't going to be able to do anything on offense. Thus, he had ZERO pressure on him allowing him to just sling it at will. That is a MUCH different situation than playing a good opponent when the game is on the line.
It's no different than in 2014 vs. Mississippi state. LSU was down 34-16 with about 4 minutes to go in the game. They inserted true freshman, Brandon Harris, into the game. There was no pressure on him as the game seemed to be decided. He slung the ball all over the field and damn near orchestrated a miraculous comeback. The fans loved him and screamed for him to start. He finally did two games later vs. Auburn and was destroyed. He looked completely in over his head vs a good opponent in a game where the outcome wasn't already decided when he came in.
I like Nuss's skill set. He has long reminded me of Baker Mayfield. I think he could eventually be a good QB. But a few NO PRESSURE throws in garbage time vs. McNeese isn't enough to say he absolutely should be the starter right now. Even if he did become the starter he would still have to play behind the same poor OL and with the same OC.
Johnson has not been great in the first two games. No one will deny that. And that's made more disappointing by the fact he looked good in his first two starts ever last season. At minimum, he looked poised and not overwhelmed against SEC opponents. Now he looks the complete opposite against lesser opponents. So what happened? Did he all of a sudden become a bad player? Or is it that the current, completely green, OC is struggling to get comfortable? Even with Jonhnson last season LSU seemed to play with a bit of tempo and understanding of what they wanted to do on offense. Now, they are spending almost the entire 40 seconds of the playclock seemingly in uncertainty.
IMO, I think the biggest issue is you have a first time OC who is unsure of himself and a bit overwhelmed with the pressure of being a playcaller in the heat of the moment. Now, EVERY OC had to start somewhere. So my hope is that Peetz becomes more comfortable as the season progresses. If so, I think you'll see Johnson, and the entire offense play better. Unfortunately, the time to work out the growing pains is quickly coming to an end.

Sadly LSU sucks on both sides of the ball! I thought we were bad last year but not as bad as we are now! Schedule is gonna be a lot harder than it is now.

Max looks the same as last year. He wasn’t good last year either
