Go to Mystic. Better course, cheaper, and a much better and more laid back atmosphere.

You keep saying that, but you haven't listed what's better or why.

Im not here to defend anything, but I'd like to get an opinion not a contrarian take with an emoji like a preteen girl

So, you are still not going to answer the question. In addition to berating me for asking for clarification on your statement.

You are very bad arse bro

That's an interesting idea. It's about the same distance from DFW.

if you are big in the Monroe scene you're probably out there for social reaaons

I grew up in Monroe and worked at BDCC out on the course during Summers off from college for a few years until I got into pipelining my last 2 years of school, which ultimately became my career after the USMC. It was fun working on the course. I made dog shite but got really good at golf since I played every afternoon after work and got to know all the better Monroe area players. This was early 90's so Mystic and Squire weren't on the radar then. Fast forward about 20 something years and I got lured back to Funroe for a job in 2018. I almost joined BDCC since a shite ton of the same guys that I played golf with back in the 90's were still there. So yes, BDCC is pretty social but there are some stud golfers that call it home outside of the social scene. I only know a handful that are members at Squire as well as BDCC since you better have some cash to be at both and everybody is also all about going to Mystic now. In fact, my boss at the time is a member at Squire but he lives in Calhoun and is a big Tech guy. I still think the majority of Squire members are mostly Lincoln parish folks with several money guys that come from DFW and BR.

For those of you that say mystic is better, do they have places to stay on property or is it just a stay and play at local hotel?

I get to play Squire and Desiard a decent bit with my work - my take:

Squire is the best course in the state - there is no doubt about that. I could play that course every damn day - no problem. I think the layout is very, very well done.

Desiard has the best gamblers on the course - gosh damn, they are salty when the bets are on - Desiard has way better food and service

Squire is going up for locals to $500 a month (still crazy cheap for that quality) but they will lose some of the Monroe guys

Mystic is the purest overall course in NLA area - it is better overall test of golf - squire relies on greens for defense - mystic makes you work for it on every shot.

This must have been a couple years before local BDCC hero Coop got his Cotton States win. I grew up playing out there and they have some salty players who came out of there including Brian Bateman.

I was planning to play Mystic tomorrow on my way up to Branson for a golf trip, but they punched the greens yesterday and today.

Is it so good that I should still stop and play or should i find a public around Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Conway or somewhere else on my way from Lafayette to Branson?

Any recommendations for publics along that route?

The Scorecard from Brian Batemans win at the Buick is hanging in the locker room.
