Does anybody know the details on the wreck last night on I-10 westbound just before Essen? It was around 7:30pm last night. It happened just behind me, but looked and sounded BAD. I believe a truck hit a stopped 18-wheeler on the shoulder. If I was another car or two back, it would have hit me after the collision. I tried looking online, but couldn’t find anything.

You gonna pull over on I-10 in Baton Rouge for a wreck that happened behind you? Sounds like a good way to get hit and killed.

Passed by not long after it happened. It looked like 2 cars were involved with the big truck. They were really badly damaged. The guy in the truck was leaning against it so I think he came out all right. Didn't look like they were trying to get anyone out of either car. They may have just gotten lucky. It looked pretty bad. Cops were there when I passed

Where Essen merges at N Essen Heights is really bad, with people cutting across traffic to turn onto N Essen Heights, cluster frick after cluster frick occurs.

Sounds like it happened around the same area as the fatal shooting that occurred there.

Didn’t see one there but there was a bad one just past Siegen on 10E near Chili’s with numerous fire truck, ambulances, and cops there about an hour or so earlier.

There was clearly a fire because of a huge plume of black smoke.

Blame that one on the geniuses who decided to get rid of turn lanes and other ways to reach North Essen from Essen.

At one point, that particular turn was the only one available to get there because they closed the turn lane from the other side of Essen and didn’t have the cut-through to United Plaza.

WTF was he going to do? Getting out of the trained responders way was the best thing he could have done.

Just hoping there were no deaths or bad injuries. You could feel the concussion of the collision. Again, this happened barely behind me. So no real opportunity to stop and give assistance. I did call police to notify them.
