Installing a whole home generator at old home with fuses in electric panel...any issues?

I have a family member that has ordered a whole home generator for their house. The house has two electrical panels: one for the main part of the house and one for a new addition added in the 80's. One of those panels still uses fuses. Will this be an issue in any way? Generator dealer said it isn't an issue but we want to make sure.
Home owner plans to upgrade the electrical panel with the fuses in the future but not until after the generator is installed.

If its in an area that requires a permit, it ain't gonna happen.

Yes, you gonna be changing that panel and probably a few other code required upgrades if it requires a permit and it will require a permit. One for the plumber and one for the electrician.

Don’t know where they are located, but in unincorporated Harris county, I did not require a permit.

The panel they tie into will be mostly open and apart to get the transfer switch installed, easiest time to do the upgrade would be then if they tie into old panel.

Question for anyone who bought the 22kw Generac whole house generator -
Did you buy the extended warranty? The unit is advertised coming a 5 year warranty, but for an additional $300 you can extend to 7 years, and for $600 for 10 years. Is the extended warranty worth the extra money? I'm thinking that with inflation that's not a bad bet. You still have to pay for yearly maintenance and I was told the would be around $150, but I'm not sure about the extended warranty. And yes, I'm seriously thinking about taking the plunge and buying the whole house unit. TIA
