Cool. I can now watch HBO Max in my living room (Roku TV) as well as my bedroom (Firestick).

I would say quite opposite. You are using the shitty slow smartTV interface vs a Roku/Firestick? Why, you can't afford $40 bucks?

This has gone full circle I think

3 years ago you were crazy if trying to stream through a regular Smart TV w/o a dongle/hub

Now Smart TVs are increasingly comparable to using Roku or AppleTV in performance, IMO.

We have both and ditched them because we could no longer tell the difference (with upgraded Sony TVs and Android TV).

Just like streaming often being more expensive than a bundled cable package now

you serious clark?

Imagine using a fire stick like a poor college kid to stream, or a worthless chromecaststick or whatever the worthless frick it is.

a Sony androidtv is light years better than a firestick, so is a TCL Rokutv, as well as a Samsung with their smarthub.

You spent $50 on a fire stick, or $100 on a firetv to put on your old shitty tv, when you could have just spent $150 to buy a new tv with a built in roku, and then you don't have 2 remotes to worry about.

Have a Roku in my living room and a smart TV in my bedroom. Not much different for me honestly

I got a new smart tv and it was pretty good but I didn't like the interface and for some reason Disney+ kept kicking us out of the app, so I got a Roku for it. I guess it needed updates because it seems to work fine now, but I still prefer the Roku interface and the remote on my phone.

Same here. Except my smart tv is old enough that it no longer would update the apps. I spent the 40 dollars on the plug in and now I have two Roku tvs. Have no issues with either.

I have a brand new TCL Roku and the interface is ten times slower than my 2 year old Roku. I have it outside, so I am just dealing with it, but I would blow my brains out if I had to use it daily in the living room.

frickING FINAALLY!!!

I know most people don't give a frick or pay attention to this.

But Apple chugged the HBO cock right away and Amazon followed-suit to put HB on their platform.

I'm very grateful Roku got out the way and let HBO on their devices.

Oh and the Roku Ultra is worth it in my opinion. I have one of those and 3 other Rokus(two stick and a 3).
