I’m told there has been no recycling pickup since Covid. Is that right?

Also, when they do pickup, how do I tell what day.

I dunno, the recycling bins at my building get emptied every week, but I don't really pay a lot of attention to it.

They've been picking up for me, although it seems like the pickup day always changes.

Is it true that all the NOLA recyclables have to be trucked to Baton Rouge? Then the plant has to pay to get rid of most of it?

Most 'recycling' just gets trucked elsewhere and put on barges to China and isn't really recycled. I've always said recycling is a scam, not to mention economically inefficient, because you have to pay to have stuff "recycled". If it made economic sense, the recycling company would pay you for your recyclables.

In Jefferson parish, the same garbage truck that picks up regular garbage picks up "recycling" stuff and it's not even sorted.

It’s NOLA, everyone knows all trash either goes on the side of the road or straight into the closest drainage ditch. Dumb question Baw.

You are right.

A lot of people do not understand how much of recycled products end up in the dump anyway due to contamination from recyclables with food on it.

What’s that huge recycling plant next to the Earhart Expressway?

Here how it usually works.

Some companies do not waste time with recycling.

They just discount the second commercial can as it is cheaper since the white goods truck is already there. Weight is usually light as it is usually card board not glass bottle from a bar.
Again, gas wise the truck is there for the regular can.

The ones that do it been hit or miss.
Labor, trucking cost, and some of the recycling is rejected if contaminated by Cardboard waxy recyclables with food on it like pizza containers.
Still Aluminum, plastic, and glass markets have to be up to offset what you charge to pick up the recyclables.
