This game has been on Steam for little while and has gathered a cult following on Twitch. I'm interested in this one because I love horror, and horror games (Especially ones that use horror movie tropes to world-build).

I cannot play this game at the present moment, as I don't have a pc with any modern gaming capabilities. However, I am curious to know if anyone on here has played it, and if it's any good.

I loved Until Dawn, if that means anything.

I watched the Game Informer stream this week where 3 of them played Phasmophobia, looked like a lot of fun, but unfortunately its co-op so likely wouldnt be able to play.

It looks good, and I'd probably shite my pants playing it - but any time I convince my friends to get a primarily coop game we never end up playing them for too long.

I been playing the shite out of this on my Index.

I really don't understand how this could be any fun or even remotely scary on desktop. Just would seem dumb and not immersive. This game is the perfect case for VR outshining desktop in a genre, it's amazing in the headset.

Also this game was created by one guy, it's kinda glitchy and janky at some points, but he did a great job. A lot of unity generic assets were used in it though.

My group just learned a cheese way to play though, you can lay down in VR and the ghost can't kill you. Ghost was teabagging all of us, but couldn't get us.

Desktop version isn't very PC hungry. Any basic computer should be able to play it.

Yeah playing this game on desktop just seems like a bore. Playing on VR seems insane

I was pressured into buying this from friends. It's a janky mess and I didn't have any fun playing it at all. Maybe it requires VR, but I returned it with the quickness.

The streamers seem to have fun with it, it’s entertaining to watch

Streamers have to be entertaining to make a life out of it. The good ones can act and make a bad game look fun. The game itself doesn’t lend itself well to desktop as it is a very easy game without the immersion.

Yeah I don’t disagree. The ghosts just showing up and looking like a .JPG that moves around doesn’t seem like it would be scary in gameplay.

Maybe they can take the concept and improve on it like Five Nights at Freddy’s (haven’t played it but I know there were a bunch of sequels).

Did not expect a bunch of people shitting on this game in this thread.

Quality streaming content comes from this game.

And it's not the ghosts that are scary, it's the environment.

Not shitting on the game, especially since it is made by one person, more on how people choose to play it. Understandable that people don’t want to spend the money for VR, but Quest 2 has made it cheap for the normies. You can use the link cable to play steamVR.

The immersion just isn’t there in desktop mode and it’s the streamer more than the game that makes it good content. Where if it was a not quite as entertaining streamer in VR, the experience of the streamer in VR would be less acting and more believable because of the immersion. VR content >>>>>>> Desktop

Nothing is scary in desktop, I still get chills and nervousness even after ranking up to triple digit levels in VR.
