Need help mounting a big tv on a drywall backed by brick

i've never hard a problem with those blue tapcon screws going into brick and having it hold several hundred pounds. could you maybe cut out the drywall in a small area completely and secure some type of plate/brace directly into the brick with the tapcons that you could then attach the TV mount to?

something like this maybe? then you can just use bolts to secure the tv mount to the plate. you might have to drill holes in it to match where you want the bolts. you could even cut & replace the drywall in the middle of this once you're done so it would hide the screw holes.





eta you just need something solid fir the tv mount to grip to. you might be able to just cut out the area and replace it with a thick piece of wood that you run tapcons into then screw the TV mount into the wood. just keep in mind the screw length because once they go through the wood they'll get stuck at the brick. the brace/bolt option above might be a better solution.

eta2, how are you planning to run power & possibly hdmi, cable, etc?

Hammer these in. They need to be tight. Then squirt some liquid nail in, then screw your TV mount in.

I've hung multiple tv's and flag poles in brick this way with no problems.

He said it's in brick.

I followed these directions a few years ago on mine and my parent's. Neither have fallen yet.

What is on the other side of the brick? Maybe just drill through the brick and use these... or
