Mistborn trilogy

Just finished this yesterday after reading some on here highly recommend it a while back, and oh what a journey it was. I think this might be my favorite series I have ever read. Maybe I'm suffering a bit of recency bias, but damn if this isn't perfect story telling.
Sanderson is an exceptional writer. He develops his characters with patience, but not to the point of boredom. He has a very rare talent of pulling the reader in emotionally with just about every character in the story.
The story itself was absolutely compelling, and his world building was perfectly done. I dislike Rothford, because I find he is so focused on world building that the story barely goes anywhere. I know people love his 2 books, but it didn't work for me. Sanderson on the other hand shows how to effectively world build while also move the story along in a compelling way.
This series completely sucked me in. It has been a very long time since a book hit me emotionally the way this series did. Seriously, this was some strong work.
My only issue is the was he made everything a mystery to the point where there was uncertainty and confusion with characters at times. My friend told me that he admitted to this later in his career as a rookie mistake.
I am looking forward to further explorations of Sanderson's worlds.

The Wax and Wayne Mistborn books are even better!

Sanderson able to keep getting out greatness while also constantly publishing new books and series is so underrated it isn't even funny.

100% agree.
Mistborn era 2 aka Wax and Wayne is better than Era 1.

Really can’t wait for him to get to the 4th and final wax and Wayne book now that he has storm light 4 behind him.

I'm assuming you are talking about Rothfuss here, and if so his second book is considered to be hot garbage by a large amount of people (including myself). I'd agree with you in general about him as well, though the first one is a very solid book with excellent prose, the plot and characters are weak outside of Kvothe himself.
As others have mentioned, if you loved the trilogy you should really love the Wax and Wayne books.
Warbreaker is a particular standout by him as well.

The first Mistborn Trilogy didn't quite do it to me at that level - I certainly enjoyed it a lot, but the next era of Mistborn for me was head and shoulders better.
Stormlight Archive is different - bigger, denser books that kind of drag in some places but still are very very good.

I find it interesting that Sanderson is still planning to have two more era's (trilogies) on the Mistborn world Scadrial.
The concepts for both of those trilogies sounds interesting right now, but of course they will likely change before Sanderson begins writing.

Yes, Rothfuss. I agree he is an excellent wordsmith. I enjoyed reading his prose for its artistic value, but the story was very flat and moved at a near stagnant pace. Kvothe was too much of a Mary Sue character (it's been a while, so I may be misremembering this), and the supporting cast was indeed weak. I genuinely disliked it, and I had zero interest to even attempt the second book.

"Warbreaker" is a sneaky favorite.
Sanderson has incredible talent, that's for sure.

You aren't, and it's 100 times worse in the second book,to the point of absurdity. Though one of the few interesting things with the story to me is the idea of Kvothe as an unreliable narrator.

Try reading the novella Mistborn: Secret History. It gives a bunch of context to all that went on.

I really loved Mistborn as well. I'm all in on Sanderson and his works. Can't wait for Rhythm of War to come in November.
That said, I'll be the lone dissenting voice on Era 1 vs Era 2. They're different and both very good, but Era 2 is a clear step down. The scope and tone is entirely different, and while that does lead to more comedic punch, it's not as compelling. I do recommend you reading them though (after Warbreaker and Stormlight Archive ofc).

Was good read and I enjoyed it.
Can't praise it high, but worth my time.

I was really really digging stormlight but Oathbringer fell really flat for me unfortunately. That said it was the middle of the 5 book section of the series and that sort of turning point can sometime be a little slow.
Gonna hold off on Rythym of War then read all 5 in a row once the next one comes out.

I was seeing this, but I am unsure if I should read before or after second era. I saw somewhere that there are some spoilers for E2?

If you are worried about spoilers then there are some for the final book of Era 2 in there.

I think I heard Sanderson refer to Wax and Wayne as more of an era 1.5 versus an era 2.
I think he had some things he wanted to do in a novella and it spun out into four short books.
