Yes, the movie soundtrack. I will fight anyone that doesn't bow to this performance. First of all the song selection at this point in their history was pristine. The standouts in this one are the ones you wouldn't expect (no quarter, dazed and confused, rain song, song remains the same, Moby dick) and yes plant mails it in on black dog but page, Bonham and jpj are in rare form on this whole shebang.

Ever seen the Zeppelin tribute band Zoso? All of the songs that appear in Song Remains The Same are exact reproductions of those performances. I've always been astounded at how accurately they nail it. I've seen them dozens of times and my favorite thing is the couple of times I've seen them do the full half hour long version of "Dazed and Confused". It can't be a cakewalk to get every little detail (including amp feedback) right on the gnats arse. Amazing stuff.

I saw them about 10 years ago when I lived in Raleigh area. That was such a good concert.

Dude, THE ABALON! We were probably there at the same time at least once. I think it's used as a Church or something now.

I bought that record at the K-Mart on College Drive in 1977. One of my all-time favorite albums. I gave my son the CD a few years ago for Christmas and he loves it.

Crazy I'd say this but I'm not a BSer, Robbie's clearly the only weak link of the band at this point as his singing isn't the powerful scream it was back in 68-69, obviously Pagey's playing at this time was transcendent compared to the other mainstream band lead guitarists of the day (not including the progressive bands and Jeff Beck), Jonesy's brilliance goes without saying, and Bonzo yeah drumming perfection. Crazy the band didn't like these performances as I think they submitted all-world live efforts as they tended to do at this time of Zeppelin but I give them credit for perfectionism. The only surprise of all this is Pagey never falls over when wearing his Les Paul considering how ungodly skinny he is, dude looks like he's still a teen.
