I want to surprise my wife with a long weekend get-a-way and need your help finding the right place. I have a few hundred dollar vouchers for flights that will expire soon and want to use it.

My wife loves the beach (just got back from FL), mountains, wine, beer, and live music but doesn't have any hobbies so it makes it difficult finding an area.

I will look into Charleston, SC; St. Simon Island, Ga; and Newport, RI. Does anyone else have a good suggestion? Looking to go between the end of September and October.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I would start by checking the flight schedules for whatever airline you have vouchers with. Look for non-stops and activities in that area.

For that time of year I would usually say NYC but not with all of the protests. I would suggest Denver area or San Francisco (Napa).

Fly to Denver and pick a mountain town to drive to. Estes Park, Breckenridge, Vail are all easy drives and she would love it.

That time of year should coincide with fall foliage in the northeast. fly to boston, drive to maine, stay in a b&b and drive around looking at the leaves change. my wife loves it for a long weekend getaway.

I think the NE would be a great place to go that time of year; you will probably wish you had more than a long weekend though.

St. Simon Island, Ga;
There is not a lot to do at St. Simon. They do have some good restaurants; don't know if they have much live music.

Jekyll Island is not that far; about a 1/2 hour drive. You can find additional things to do there

It could still be a little hot in late September and Hurricanes are not out of the question. Hurricane Matthew hit the FL, GA and SC coast on Oct.7 & 8, 2016.
