Obviously, everything in the world is sold out right now online. I perused FB marketplace and I found a deal for a pretty complete home gym setup, but want to make sure this is worth it.

Guy is asking for $1300 for rack, bar, bench, weights, etc. He doesn't know the brand of the rack, weights are Body Champ, and the bar is from Academy. Should I hold out or just go for it?

I'm going batshit insane not being able to lift.

You'd need too now the brands to make an assessment.

Depends on how much weight you get and how good the setup is.

A decent standard for new weight plates is $1 per pound. So, if he's selling you 500 LB used in half decent condition, that's like $400 in a normal market.

I could see a decent condition used rack being another $4-500 or so and a good bar $1-200. Bench, depends on if it's adjustable. Adjustable, maybe 2-300 used. Flat, it shouldn't be more than $75-125.

There's going to be a markup bc it's a seller's market. I think $1,300 is an ok price if it's all stuff in good condition and the bench is adjustable.

If it's all beat to hell, he's trying to milk the desperate.

Don't cheap out on the bar

Rack, bench, and weights for $1300 may be a good deal depending on brands. I'd say plates don't really matter, but they can vary wildly (i.e. a 45 lb. plate could be between 40 and 60 lbs.) Rack and bench matters less as long it's not just blatantly garbage.

I don’t know. For $1300 I would just wait until equipment is back in stock. Just do body weight exercises in the mean time.

You can get a nice set up for that much money with high quality stuff that you will want to keep. You don’t want to buy crap that you will end up wanting to replace anyway.

All that being said if you like the setup he is offering and judge the quality to be good. Then go for it.

Think I’m going to stick it out for when rogue puts their monster lite racks back in stock. I needed some people to talk me off the ledge

Check out fringe sport. They still have some items in stock. Great bars and bumper plates.

If you have time, it might not be awful to inspect it.

If it's good condition, solidly made stuff, it's not a crazy price if you get an adjustable bench and a lot of weight. Plates are the part that can really add up fast if you need 500+.

If it isn't good quality, skip it, I totally agree there.

$1300 seems like a lot for Academy level gear.

Is it the one with the Miami Dolphins flag? If so, I would wait.
