Hadn’t heard anything about him in a while. Glad to see he still wants to kick and has a job now. He was so clutch for us that 2009 year. I’ll never forget how great he was in the Super Bowl run.
Also, the article I read stated it wasn’t clear what team he’ll play for. It said contracts are signed with the league itself rather than the teams which I thought was interesting.

without digging into the stats, why did the saints move away from him? after the kick in the NFCCG, seems like that would have earned him a longer leash than most.
also heard a rumor that he had some drinking problems back then. any truth to that?

If I remember correctly it was an "inside his head" kind of thing. he bounced around to a couple of teams after us.

He wasn't the same kicker after he was suspended for Aderall.
If I recall correctly, they pulled the plug on him one year when he was struggling bad and they replaced him with Carney. Carney came in with the same struggles and they finally realized the issue was the right side of the line. The kickers were rushing their kicks causing them to push or pull the ball. They then brought in the old JETS ST guy, and found Lutz.

it was a money thing, to keep him they had to pay him more and there were much cheaper options.
i dont recall exactly what went down with replacing him but the money is why they let him go

I remember watching an interview with him a while back and he and his wife lost a child/miscarriage and it really threw him for a loop. We easily forget the human side to these athletes and how they have to deal with the same struggles as us
