If I were in your shoes, I'd detour into Jeanerette to have lunch at the Yellow Bowl, then check out the wares at G&M Meat Market and LeJeune's Bakery.

I haven't been to any of them; they're all high on my list.

LeJeune's Bakery.

While I love the place, it doesn't have "wares". It sells french bread, and ginger planks. C'est tout. The bakery isn't much on direct sales--last time I stopped in, I had to wake up the sleeping attendant in order to pay for my bread. The whole place is antique, from the screen doors at the odd side entrance, to the rolling racks where the ginger planks are cooling in the foyer, to the peeling paneling that faces the street. I love their bread, but it ain't no beauty spot.

Castalano’s in Morgan City. Get the meatball poboy, or anything with Red Sauce for that matter.

Atchafalaya Golf Course in Patterson has fantastic food. It’s a legit restaurant not just standard club house fair

Although I haven't eaten there, Boiling Madd in Patterson on US 90 usually has brisk business. I've peeked inside to take a look at the menu because I like to stop next door for cracklins at Black Kettle Cajun Meats, which breaks up my Lafayette to New Orleans drive nicely.

Menu for Boiling Madd...
