Just realized that this song is only known in Louisiana. The only line dance I’ve ever learned. I blame it on middle school peer pressure.

Girl at work was talking about the Copperhead Road line dance (badass song, didn’t know there was a line dance to it), and I said the only one I know how to do is the freeze. Didn’t know “the freeze” was more of a regional phenomenon with a relatively obscure Ronnie Milsap song.

Pretty much just rural south Louisiana folks know it, but it is absolutely ubiquitous in those areas. It was played at every wedding in ascension parish.

Longhorn. Toomey, LA. Series of 4 line dances. The Stroke or Strokin’, cotton Eye Joe, some other song, The Freeze. Without fail! Every time the Freeze started the women screamed like it was a shock.

You can throw Vermilion Parish in there too.

Had Ronnie Milsap play Texas Club and didn't even remember the song, lol. It's a Louisiana thing. He was totally surprised.

I never realized that, I always thought it was a popular song. I remember line dancing at St. Thomas Moore in 6th grade to it. Good memories
