Anniversary Trip Ideas

Looking for ideas for a 10 year anniversary trip. Travel period would be May of next year. Trip can be up to 9 days. We aren't opposed to Europe, we just weren't sure if 9 days is long enough. We would be flying out of MSY.

9 days is cutting it close for Europe. You could do UK, France or Spain. Anything farther east would be too much travel in 9 days.
Have you ever been to Bermuda? It's very close and is super nice.
Cabo is also very nice and travel time is nothing.

What sort of activities are you guys into?
Are you wanting all inclusive or do you want to immerse yourself in Local culture?

We haven't been to Bermuda. France was a thought we were leaning towards. We aren't the hiking vacation type of folks and it doesnt need to be an all inclusive.

Ireland is another option. Shorter flight across the Atlantic and very easily drivable once you arrive. Absolutely beautiful country, great food and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Lots of nice B&B's available for rent with a home cooked breakfast included at reasonable prices.

I’d second Ireland for ease. Everything is Ireland is easy and pleasant. Barcelona would be great too. Nice , France and the French Riviera is nice .

I think a cruise on the French Riviera, a small loop around northern Italy (ie. Tuscany, Venice, etc.), or a targeted region in Spain would all make great, romantic anniversary locales.
And I’ve heard the trips come packaged with a few complimentary tickets to Poundtown, as well.

9 days is plenty long enough to hit a Euro capital and some nearby countryside.....no need to hit multiple countries or try to cover too much territory. Paris and a bit of Normandy, London with a side trip to Bath or Oxford.....
I’m tossing in a vote for Monterey/Big Sur, plus a little of San Francisco.
Vancouver is another good suggestion.

France has always been on our bucket list. Both of our families are from France. We are into the food and definitely the wine. If anyone has suggestions in France, please point me in the right direction.

From your comment about not being the adventure types and interest in the Bahamas, I think Nice and Monaco are where you want to go. It's the French Riviera.
Now, May isn't warm enough for the water, but the beaches are still beautiful and the weather is still nice to enjoy the promenades. If you like museums, they have that. Renoirs home is now a museum there. If you like beaches, they have that. If you enjoy boats, they have the harbor. Castles, cathedrals, gardens, monestary, cemeteries all offer unique architecture if that's your thing.
In Monaco right down the road, you have the famous Casino Monte Carlo which should be a must do even if you don't care to gamble, like me. More of the same gardens, beaches, cathedrals, etc like Nice.
If you want to get into the water, I'd go to Maui in May.

Search this board, there have been a number of pretty good threads on France, and specifically Paris and environs. Or start a new thread for May in France.
A few things to consider re: France.....have you been before? Do you speak any French at all? Are you comfortable driving, or would you prefer to take trains/tours? You could easily fill 9 days in Paris and northern France, including Rouen, Etretat, and Honfleur....or head out from Paris toward Bayeux (DDay landing beaches, WWII history), with a side jaunt to Giverny, as the gardens there will be lovely in May. You could overnight in Giverny.
If you dislike driving, or would prefer not to do so in France, you can take a Seine cruise directly from Paris. Viking offers Bordeaux to Bordeaux cruises though amazing wine country as well. I prefer driving to cruising, as I would rather dine in local places and not be stuck eating on the boat with the same people every day.

A couple of thoughts, I just did a trip to Spain, 2 days in Barcelona, 2 days in Priorat, 2 days in Rioja and a day in Madrid. With the two extra days you have you could add one to Madrid and Barcelona and have a great time. Good mix of history, food, and wine at a good price.
Bermuda is nice as previously mentioned.
I was going to suggest the Azores but if you are anti-hiking, there might not be enough to do. I have not been but I am working on a trip there for my next one.
