We all know Big Dick Dave has been holding back, particularly on his zone blitzes he’s so well known for. There is 0 chance he isn’t testing Tua’s health early on in this game.

My prediction is Tua throws an INT in the first quarter of this game due to said blitz.

I’m fired the frick up just thinking it about it

I hope you’re right, but I expect them to try and keep things in front to minimize YAC, maximize Tua’s snaps, and put their chips in on redzone d.

It’s not what I think they should do, but watching both teams so far this year ...I would be surprised if Aranda breaks all tendencies all of the sudden against this offense.

frick, I hope you’re wrong. If we don’t pressure Tua he will eventually burn us. He’s too goddamn good

Our defensive gameplans have looked bizarre at times this season. I pray its been because orgeron has been directing his assistants to tailor their season long game plan for this game specifically.

In the Auburn game our defensive backfield looked like they did not know who to guard or where to line up much of the time.

Tua and the Bama receivers are going to make a lot of plays

Ehlinger torched us. Trask looked like an all American.

I suspect that they will try to run Najee a good bit to,’keep the ball away from us.

We are going to have to outscore them.

This is the only strategy that makes sense. As much as I want to blitz tua often it will be used rarely at least early in the game. This is a game where if you hold them to a field goal attempt every single drive you can probably win.

We looked so much better when we finally realized we couldn’t just make Trask throw. He did and it worked. When we blitz we are much better

IMO if we allow Tua time we won’t be holding them to 3. They will score a ton of points until we can get to him. As another poster mentioned, it’s happened numerous times this season vs QBs and WRs that can’t hold bamas QB and WRs jockstrap

The issue with blitzing is that, yes you want to get pressure. But given you’ve struggled to do that all year on top of Bama allowing ~1 sack per game, you can’t just line up and expect to get in his face every play.

If we thought we could do that, we most certainly would.

He *has* to test him early, even if that means giving up completions. Need to see where he is with his mobility and if he can sustain a hit or two.

He can adjust off that information, but the earlier he gets that info, the more valuable it is to him IRT the rest of te game.

Many of the games this year we haven’t blitzed early on. Florida for sure comes to mind. Dave is known for his zone blitzes, has been for years. We’ve seen not much of that this year, and I refuse to believe he’s changed his philosophy.

Yes on breaking tendencies.. but that does not always translates to blitzes.

I have a feeling, the goal for our defense is to keep Tua confused through different looks, coverages and rushing schemes.... as a result Tua will not play and throw with as much authority and at that point I think the sacks will come..
