4 day NYC visit: what are some must do’s

I'm taking the fam there in 10 days and our itinerary
is similar to yours. The only thing we are adding is
a Yankees game when the Stros are in town.

ETA: Museum of Natural History and then Nathans hot dogs in Central Park is also on the list.

We like starting the day early so we’ll head to 9/11 memorial around 8. From what I understand Wall Street is near by. We are staying like a block away from grand central so exploring that shouldn’t be to difficult, along with the ROC. Exploring midtown/Times Square is just a time waster. As far as day 2 goes, we may not do museum of modern art and just replace that with Times Square

Ride the subway, maybe to Yankee Stadium or Citi Field to see a game.

Walk through Central Park on a Saturday, see if Shakespeare in the Park is open.

Walk across the Booklyn Bridge at dusk.

Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim, MOMA

American Museum of Natural History

Eat at a deli for breakfast.

Catch a concert on one of the piers.

Do an off-Broadway show

See something at Radio City Music Hall

Get an italian ice.

Pastrami Sandwich at Katz's

Ride the Staten Island Ferry there and back.

Empire State Bldg.

Holy frick, we need a definitive NYC thread. Not sure anything will get close to what you’ve done for Boston, but dayum we’ve had a shitload of NYC threads on here lately.

To be fair, you see how much it took just to cover Boston. And that’s not even nearly everything. Just the highlights. Imagine the work it would take to properly cover everything New York offers.

Just got back from a family trip to NYC.
If you plan on hitting 9/11 Memorial, Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, museums I would suggest the NYC CityPass. You can also take a boat ride around Manhattan that goes right by Statue of Liberty - it’s about a 2 hour ride around. One price gets access to all these with separate ticket lines. It worked great for the 4 of us.

Top of the Rock at night is best.

Buy a Subway Metro that is good for unlimited rides for 7 days - around $35 but all can use it. Just pass it back after swiping. (Single ride pass is $3 each - metro card with dollar amount is $2.75 per ride) UPDATE - I was wrong on the 7 day pass- it locks out for 18 minutes after each swipe.

Our daughters are 13 and 10. We visited Serendipity 3 for dessert (recommended on here).
They are still craving the Frozen Hot Chocolate!
The Sugar Factory was also great for over sized desserts.

Grand Central is great to people watch and cool off.

We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge - do it early in morning to avoid some of the crowd. We made the mistake of doing it on Saturday afternoon- mad house.

We were refilling our card with dollar amounts each day.
Last day we were 2 rides short on the card. A lady over heard us discussing the refill for 2 rides. She told us not to worry about it and swiped her card 2 times for my wife and daughter. We just assumed it was the 7 day card. Proves now she was even nicer than we originally thought.

I would agree. Nothing wrong with walking down there but it was probably my least favorite part of my trip so I'd just quickly move past like you say.
