Report: Pelicans not high on Knicks forward Kevin Knox

LINK

quote:

The Knicks clearly want to trade for Anthony Davis.

They won’t have the No. 1 pick to send New Orleans. But they still have Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Dennis Smith Jr., Frank Ntilikina, Allonzo Trier, the No. 3 pick, all their own future first-round picks and an extra first-rounder or two from the Mavericks.

But…

Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News:

the Pelicans are not high on Kevin Knox, according to a source

Me neither. Knox posted a box plus-minus of -6.0 this season. Only Michael Michael Olowokandi (-6.2 in 1999-00) has ever posted a worse box plus-minus while playing 2,000 minutes. Knox is just 19, and he has some raw skills. But he’s so far from understanding how to positively affect NBA games.

Even without including Knox, New York can still make the Pelicans a suitable offer for Davis. Mitchell Robinson is an intriguing prospect, and the Knicks have plenty of first-rounders.

But New York’s path to acquiring Davis is definitely narrower if New Orleans doesn’t value Knox.

Considering the Pelicans reportedly won’t trade Davis to the Lakers, this is even more reason to believe Davis winds up in Boston. But that’s predicated on the Celtics actually offering their better assets.

Good. Dude is terrible. The Knicks players the Pels should care about are Robinson and DSJ.

Who cares?

Knox is a supporting piece of any trade, so him getting mentioned is far more likely to be “we don’t want this a-hole, what will you throw in for us to take him?”

Given his play last year, Knicks fans would probably pay his salary out of their pockets to dump him.

How would you see him fitting?

I see him fitting by trading him.

I wish Knox was better because I'd love the Knicks deal so that we could get Barrett and those Dallas picks. But other than Robinson I just don't like their pieces as much and I don't really think their players hold much value to flip for something we like.

Seems like a lot coming from these two writers today. One of their articles is about how the Pels will not deal with Lakers. Another about how the Pels do not like Knox, a Knicks asset mentioned in an AD trade. Seems to me there is a point to their "reports."

DSJ can jump high.

He can't shoot. He can't defend. He's had one year out of 4 where he BARELY had AST/TO of 2. He's complete arse.

It's really just hurting our leverage if it's all true. If other teams know we don't like other packages they can and will offer less. We should be "leaking" that we're in love with every package out there.

Though to make a quick point, this is a total 180 from the Demps era.

We were basically cut off from the media and radio silent until something happened.

Griffin, based on everything so far, is not that.
He seems to have a relationship with WOJ and several others and I think in this era that is a good thing. It means he can control the flow of information, counter-information, and drive intrigue by taking a participatory role in the process.

The fact that you think DSJ has played 4 years in the league tells me all I need to know about your opinion

Wasn’t the league but didn’t he play professionally at NC State?

Or this is the Pelicans leveraging more from the Knicks...
Knox is backing up Barrett anyway if this goes through

I’m assuming he was looking at basketball reference where, if a player gets traded mid-season, it breaks up the season between teams and gives a total. If you just count the columns, it looks like DSJ has played 4 years. I’ve made the same mistake in the past.

Don't even think RJ Barrett is that great. His game is very sloppy and a relatively poor shooter.

I would take Darius Garland to pair with Jrue in the backcourt. Garland has all the tools of Dame

Take Knox, Mitch, and Dennis Smith Jr. along with their Dallas 1st rounders.

That's the deal
