Cars and motorbikes running on petrol or diesel will be banned from driving in Amsterdam from 2030.
The city’s council plans to phase in the change as part of a drive to clean up air pollution, which the authorities blame for shortening the life expectancy of Amsterdammers by a year.
“Pollution often is a silent killer and is one of the greatest health hazards in Amsterdam,” said the councillor responsible for the city’s traffic, Sharon Dijksma, announcing the municipality’s decision.
From next year, diesel cars that are 15 years or older will be banned from going within the A10 ring road around the Dutch capital.
Public buses and coaches that emit exhaust fumes will no longer enter the city centre from 2022. By 2025, the ban will be extended to pleasure crafts on its waters, mopeds and light mopeds.

Great, have all of the democrats and GOPe move there and Obama with AOC as President/VP.
It is a shame because it is beautiful in Amsterdam; everybody is stoned so they won't care.

I have no problem with this
The dumbass voters put these councilmen in, you reap what you sow.

Great. Less demand = lower prices.

Amsterdam to ban post-Industrial Revolution society by 2030
They've legislated themselves back to the middle ages. Way to go, leftists.

Good. More diesel and gasoline for us.
Thanks, Amsterdam!!!
ps. You're not helping the global environment with these measures. See China for battery production.

I have a business acquaintance who traveled to Amsterdam recently. She said there were a million bikes everywhere you went.
Sounds great, but how would this go over in the average non-homogeneous US city? Not so sure private property rights have the same respect here anymore.

I was there (Amsterdam) in the summer of 2017 and this is true. In fact your pic doesn't even begin to do it justice. The bike rack coming off the ferry is about the size of 2 football fields and is double stacked storing bikes.
Regarding the whole pot smoking thing... The native population really does not smoke pot in public settings to much. If you run into someone walking the streets smoking pot, 99% of the time it is someone from out of country.
Also a couple of other interesting facts about Amsterdam...
You can legally buy alcohol at 13 or 14 (don't remember which...)
But you cannot get a drivers license until you 20...
They think we are crazy for letting our teenagers drive..
