Most of them make 6 figures. That’s why that article is bull shite. You factor in all these jackasses sitting in parking lots playing on their phone or computer working their 12 hour shifts and probably only putting in 6 true hours of work, it is disgusting to see their waste. Chief dumbass is just the right figurehead for the force. There is not any trust in the police department. It doesn’t matter how many classes or conferences they attend. The truth is they need better results and need to focus on the right areas.

You clearly have no freaking idea what you are talking about. You sir sound like a complete jackass

May I refer you to Ferguson, MO, folks. It wasnt the first time such a thing happened. But it was the event that made policing look demonizing to a newer audience. And social media did the rest.

How Baton Rouge Police Dept fills even 5 of those spots will be a mystery to me.

It is my understanding that St. George doesn’t plan to have a police department but rather just use the sheriffs department for law enforcement as they do now. They will literally have one “police officer” that will be a political type liaison to coordinate between BRPD and EBRPSO.

Perhaps if the people in N BR would stop hating the cops & stop rejoicing every time a cop was shot they might care more.
And stop with the "frick the poice" "kill the cops" "pigs"'..'
I could go on forever .
And if the SWB cadre of cop haters would actually support the cops instead of thinking all cops are wrong in everything they do & if the city paid them more there would no shortage.
And when they investigated another murder in N BR try actually providing real facts instead of the "didn't see nuffin" "snitches get stitches" bullshite & "dindu nuffin" maybe they'll care more.
Any wonder n. Br is the shite hole of the city.?
Grow up. Cooperate with cops when a crime occurs or quit bitching about them.
Quit whining.
Stop Screaming frick the police then calling them for help. It's up to the people in n br to fix it. And up to the cop hating politicians & the constant ridicule they heap on police to stop it.
Clean up your own neighborhood & stop blaming the rest of us.

It’s a nationwide problem. It’s a combination of low unemployment and salary. In Monroe County, Florida the sheriff’s department has almost 50 openings and they closed one of their jails because of the employee shortage. I believe the starting salary is around $47k per year with excellent benefits and retirement.

Nope. They respond to calls but they don’t patrol there.

Do you blame them? No chance in hell I would step foot north of government street if I was wearing a badge.

That should be a sweet gig for EBRSO.

What’s funny is that St Geoerge is the last thing that SWB wants to happen. Yet everything she does makes St George much more of a realistic possibility. 7 or 8 years ago, as a BR homeowner, I was 100% against St George. Now, I certainly don’t blame anyone that wants to separate. She is deplorable.

Because her cash cow would be gone and she would have actually rely on her constitutes that voted for her.

Can't fund these $300k "studies" or a useless $50M NBR to LSU CATS route from her voting base alone.

I'm shocked that after 8 years of having a Presidential Administration show open hostility to law enforcement while simultaneously hosting groups at the White House that not only encouraged the death of police officers, but also went out and followed up with it.

Not to mention all the false narratives, cities burned, etc.

Totally didn't see this coming at all.

When you look at it from a BR perspective, our current governor was more than happy to work with Obama and bring all the marching here as well.

Couple that with the current mayor, and well...

And the people of St. George can stop paying private school tuition which costs more per year than LSU and send them to public school

Eventually but that'll be years down the line. After the city is created then they'll need to establish an ISD. It'll take a few years for the school to get its act together before parents stop sending their kids to private school. Its been a way of life for so long the parents will want to see results first from the new ISD.
