No worries. Think it was when you were out of the country, which looked like a great trip btw.

I’m definitrly coming up for a game at Fenway next year. Been too long. Was there for games 3-5 of the ALCS this year. Of corse they were in Houston. Still fun to watch in a bar with crowd. Gabe started too late though.....

I was just getting back when you were here. That reminds me, I really need to finish that trip review. May add to it today.

East coast time sucks for sports. But if you're back up for a game next season definitely give me a shout.

I was in Boston last Thanksgiving.
It wasn't too bad.
No snow that week.
If the sun is out and it's not to windy, it's not bad at all.
We did several things outside and had to walk a good bit and just ubered everything else.

This could use an update.

New facility is beautiful. I was there on 11/2 and, again, on 11/3 for its first Saturday. My mom and I had reservations upstairs for dinner, but line for the taproom was 2.5 - 3 hours.

You're right, I do need to update that. The Fort Point location is strictly commercial now that the Seaport taproom is open.

I was there yesterday and enjoyed a few pints. I also may or may not have been there on the soft open and the next morning.

I don't think it will be too cold while you're here. Mostly in the 40s. Hopefully this rain ends and you can get some sunny weather.

For dinner after, I cannot recommend Yvonne's highly enough. It's one of my favorite places in Boston. Their cocktails are incredible as well. Definitely make a reservation if they'll still be seating after 11.

day 1 in Boston yesterday
took the blue line from Logan to park st, ditched our bags and saw the freedom trail sights from granary to fanueil hall while the weather was decent...and yes I drank a San Adams while looking at Sam Adams

we found a huge 2 bedroom apartment right next to the orpheum which is definitely the best way to go. Less money than a hotel and super comfortable. We showered and napped and then walked to Yvonne’s for late dinner in the snow.

two thumbs up on Yvonne’s what a great place. The food and the vibe were right in my wheelhouse. Don’t miss this place, incredible and just what we needed

My daughter is coming up from providence this morning we are getting lunch at Neptune, seeing Paul revere/etc, then hitting the aquarium and finally a show at the wang theatre

Tomorrow we all go to providence for sat/sun then back to Boston to fly home

Boston is very cool but I would not survive a winter here

Glad to hear you enjoyed Yvonne’s. Honestly all this talk of it has me thinking I need to make a reservation for this weekend. It really is a great spot.

The winters do suck, but please know that the weather we are experiencing right now is unusually bad. This is crappy weather even for December.

Neptune was great
we got a huge platter of raw bar stuff, the warm lobster roll (no roll) with greens and the mussels. expensive with a bottle of wine but I’m on vacation

saw the revere house and the north church (take the tour and you’ll see the bell ringing room and the crypts below the church). Cannoli at mikes after that

last dispatch from Boston

the wang theater is a special place. make plans to see a show there if that’s your thing. It’s hard to describe how beautiful it is and the sound is superb. We walked from our pad down Tremont to the show, then right over after the show to Chinatown for dumplings and noodles which was perfect

This morning we took an Uber to blackbird donuts then walked to back bay station for the train to providence. Of all the things about Boston we experienced I’m most amazed by two things...the living history of the birth of our nation and the public transport system. Boston is the easiest big city to get around in I’ve ever been to

Just about done with the freedom trail. Stopped at Bell In Hand - what should I do until the Celtics game tonight?

Grab a cocktail at Ward 8. It’s right next to the Garden and a great spot

Long time lurker here that just recently stumbled on these Boston threads. It’s been a treat to read all the recommendations and advice about different areas. I was wondering if you may be able to give me some tips for an upcoming trip up there. My wife and I are flying in on Thursday 12-27 and heading back Wednesday the 2nd of January. We have a few plans but are winging it on a good chunk of our stay. We are staying at the Westin Copley. We’re also going to the Pats/Jets game on the 30th. Using the Boston Common coach for transportation thanks to advice from some folks on a Patriots fan forum that I’ve been a member of for years and some people on a TripAdvisor forum. Have loose plans do do First Night stuff for New Years Eve. Also the Freedom Trail. Other than that we are still up in the air on the rest of our time there. Interested in hearing anybody’s recommendations for restaurants, cool bars, must see/do things. Thanks so much in advance!

I’m bringing my fam on a mighty expedition to Boston in June. This thread is awesome. The NYC thread isn’t nearly this informative.

Going to Boston in May. Land on a Saturday afternoon (2:30). Will be there until Tuesday morning. Don't plan on renting a car until Tuesday, when we drive north. No specific plans yet but eyeing either the Red Sox game Saturday night or Sunday during at noon. Also want to stop at Trillium, just to buy cans, don't care to drink at the tap room if its busy. Lastly, through your recommendation we will likely download the app and walk around the Freedom Trail stuff.

So a couple questions...

I need help figuring out a place to stay. Everything looks to be expensive AF. I figure as long as we are near a T stop, we shouldn't have a problem getting to any of those things? AirBnB or hotel, no preference. Any recommendations are appreciated. Just don't want to pay $400/night if I can avoid it.

Also, any preference on the Sox game Saturday night vs Sunday at noon? Saturday night seems like it would be fun, and would give us the other 2 days to pretty much do whatever we want. Tickets are about the same price. Mainly worried I wouldn't have time to land at the airport, check in to wherever I am staying, then get to Fenway in time.
