Anyone ever seen a bobcat in their back yard? I live around the southdowns area and saw what I thought was a bobcat but it was dark outside. One of my friends claims to have seen one about a year ago as well. Curious as to how common they are and what is making them more present

It could have very well been one. I doubt it's uncommon. One of my buddies had one on game camera along bayou fountain in the burbank area

It's possible. Seems unlikely in that area but they absolutely had some in the Burbank area. With all of those woods being developed they'll be pushed all over

I think every time a thread comes up that mentions "bobcat", that goofy pic shows up. I kinda laugh each time.

the first time it was posted along with the diy mounting story I laughed harder at that than I've ever laughed at something on the internet.

Never seen one in BR. Seen them in my aunt's neighborhood in Lafayette though.

My parents have seen bobcats, red foxes, and of course coyotes in their backyard. They live off of Perkins and Pecue with a few acres of woods behind their house. 15+ years ago they would see deer.

We live in Woodland Ridge and I've seen probably a dozen coyotes and a few red foxes here. A few of them during the daytime. No bobcats though.

Grew up on Addington way in the back and my parents still live there. Their backyard backs up to Forest Park. We've seen (and hypothetically could have killed but never would because that would be illegal) deer, rabbits, foxes, feral cats, bobcats, turkeys, pileated woodpeckers, cat squirrels, fox squirrels, blazed face squirrels and pretty much every snake native to SELA that isn't a rattle snake, not to mention the turtles, frogs, salamanders, skinks, and fish we found back along the creek back there. The patch of woods around Forest Park is OLD growth. Some massive white oaks back there.

I used to hunt off of Burbank. I've killed a few over there with my bow. I don't imagine they are all that uncommon around there.

We found tail feathers pretty frequently back there but I didn't lay eyes on one until after I'd gone to LSU. Was back visiting one Saturday around 9am and looked in the backyard. Sure enough a jake was picking in the grass at the edge of the woods. That's the only one I've ever seen.
