Will you have a hard time voting for a lifelong politician for president in the future?

Why did it take us so long to figure out that the best option may be an individual who is not beholden to a political past (and possible future benefits) by being president? I guess Perot was sort of close, but he was just so damn goofy. Hell, I had plenty of misgivings about Trump, but had reached the point where I was willing to give such an experiment a go. It looks to me like there's a whole lot to be said for the idea, as of right now.

I’m fine with it.....as long as it isn’t some actor or celebrity.

I have no doubt this will be the democrat attempt to counter.

You’ll see a big time name like Oprah or George Clooney on a ballot.

I'm afraid the office will turn into a popularity contest regardless of one's background. That will be like letting the court jester make policies we will have to live by.

I don't know that I necessarily agree with this. Trump did not actually gain traction until he started to articulate legitimate policy goals, of which he is actually implementing and/or trying to implement.

Trump is unique in that he has enough money to fund his campaign (along with a LOT of free publicity from the MSM who just can't help themselves).
Maybe Howard Schultz could self fund if he raises the prices at Starbucks.

I can say with all certainty, it depends.

Yes! It’s been amazing watching all these career convicts lose their minds on both sides. To think, it took this long for Americans to realize that hiring a qualified individual to lead this country was a good idea. It will take 3-4 presidencies to purge Washington of the corruption in my opinion.

the ruling class will never again allow an outsider to win the Oval.
They learned some hard lessons and next time they will make sure they don't just have a backup plan in case their preferred candidate wins, they will have a plan that takes their opponent out before the election.
Cuz they are scum bags.

I have had a hard time with it since I was old enough to vote. We need more outsiders in DC.

Obama was born in Kenya. I'm sure a time traveler like Musk can figure something out.

Let's not act like he wasn't a billionaire businessman first, and a celebrity second.

It will be for republicans but not democrats. Democrats want more government control so it would make sense for them to have career politician. Do they have any businessmen running for anything? The republicans republicans have rick Scott and a guy in Indiana I believe that are ex businessmen running for senate.
