Clark Creek Hiking Trails

Took my mom, wife and the kids there yesterday. It was my wife’s idea for mother’s day. Everyone had a great time. I was really disappointed in the amount of trash that I saw everywhere. Along the trails candy wrappers, socks, underwear, it looked like someone did not even have the decency to go off in the woods and take a crap just did it in the middle of the creek and left their wipes for everyone to see, and water bottles almost everywhere you looked. Trash cans with no lids overflowing, looked like animals got into them and pulled trash out. It is really sad that a place this pretty is littered with trash. There needs to be a better job done policing the place and better efforts to keep it clean. I am going to do my best to report to the Mississippi parks people to make them aware.

Welcome to the south. It's amazing how trashy people are. You can go to coloarado or Wyoming tinplaces that have thousands of visitors s day and never see a piece of trash on the trails or along the roads. We are just immune to it after seeing it all our lives I guess

They need to utilize that parking ticket money for something good
I don't remember it being bad at all when I went last year. Nothing that stuck out as trash

I agree, I have been there several times, and this was the worst that I had ever seen it. I think what really got me was the underwear and socks left in the creek. Also the wipes that someone used to wipe their rear end with thrown everywhere on the sand bar of the creek. You would think that the garbage cans would be metal with a heavy lid with a hinge on them to prevent animals from getting into them as well.

That's too bad to hear about the excess trash. I go a few times a year and there's always trash but sounds like a particularly bad day yesterday. MS has some guy that I think lives in the trailerhouse next to the parking lot overseeing the trails. Usually does a good job of making sure the trashcans stay empty. Also does a good job of writing tickets for the many people who neglect to pay the $4.....
I simply cannot comprehend the idea of "lets go for a walk in nature and while we're there lets trash it". It would be sweet to be deputized in some way that would allow me to write littering tickets. I could get off on that for real. Although I can't say I've ever caught someone in the act of chunking a waterbottle down a hill.

I Just spoke with Marilyn and the MDWFP and sent her an email of my experience. She said she was going to work on it for me. Her email address is below. The more complaints sent to her the more likely something will get done.

I went Saturday late. Was one of the last back to vehicle. Didn’t see any trash. Must have all happened Sunday.

How nice of them. That's the same guy who takes a crap in a restroom and doesnt flush afterwards.

By the way, spot any snakes while you were there? They're moving pretty good right now.

Did not see any snakes. I did get a phone call back from someone higher up at MDWFP that my email had been forwarded to and he assured me that they were going to get in touch with the person that oversees the trails and have it corrected immediately. I told him how nice it was to get a response within a few hours from them. Hopefully this will help to keep the place cleaner all the time.

To be fair, I don't think this is the overseers fault. I guess the overflowing trashcans are but there isn't much he can do about people shitting in creeks and tossing bottles into the ravines. Not like he's going to follow people around picking up after them. Only thing that is going to stop littering is some high dollar fines being doled out and word getting around.

lol, to people outside of the Southern US, Louisiana and Mississippi are interchangeable. Same goes for Alabama.

My bad....all the same though.
A bunch of littering heathens across the south.
Eta.... go ahead and down vote. I'm sure most of you folks are all upstanding citizens whom would never litter. However, there are a lot of folks who do litter across the south.
I seent it!.
I'll be the first to say I have family members who are this way and I say something every damn time. It's disgusting and shows your true level of trashiness.

while not in La probably 85%+ of the people who hike there are from the greater BR area. Hell it may be 95%.
