Damn brother...you are falling apart!
Yeah, my physical therapist calls me a biomechanical nightmare. All my lower body injuries stemmed from my original knee injuries and 1. my body mechanics getting thrown off and 2. pushing myself back too hard and too past post knee surgery

Turmeric

How much and how often? Thx

I use a lot of turmeric, in tea on avocados etc. I keep a mix of turmeric, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, and black pepper for avocados. And another with turmeric, Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, and a little black pepper, for tea.

But really the concentrated curcumin capsules are the way to go, as others have said. You're only getting 2-3% curcumin in turmeric. (+ Most cucrumin capsules have black pepper in them.)

Cinnamon is a powerful anti-inflammatory also. But if you are taking it in large doses, make sure it's Ceylon (true Mexican cinnamon is Ceylon).

All the other kinds (especially the cheap shite) are high in coumarin, which is toxic in high doses.

Ceylon has almost none.

Cassia varieties--especially Saigon/Vietnamese-- are higher in the toxin by 400X.

Are you in functional medicine or do you just read a lot of information on natural healing?

The latter. I'm actually pretty skeptical about most of this stuff, but the curcumin research is pretty compelling. I got into it during chemo for stage IV Hodgkin's last year. Curcumin is so powerful that my Dr (and most oncologists) said not to take it with my chemo due to its antioxidant effect on the bleomycin. Crazy shite.

The cinnamon I don't know much about, but I love it and it can't hurt.

Also, I had a meniscus injury that was so bad I couldn't walk or sleep. PT and a natural anti-inflammatory regimen had me running marathon distances within a two weeks of finishing chemo and then skiing 23 days this season.

Who knows how it all worked together, but it did.

Added Curcumin to my regimen this week to help with some inflammation I’m feeling while my mileage increases. The research I’ve done seems kind of all over the place but it seemed like one of those can’t hurt to try things. My stack is now

Multivitamin
Probiotics
CLA
Fish Oil
Curcumin

Turmeric, fish and flaxseed oil, and glucosamine/chondroitin,/MSM are great. If you are having joint pain get off of all artificial sweeteners, stevia the exception. Totally made my hand and shoulder pain all go away.

Btw, keep your fish oil consumption low as too much isn't good for the prostate.

Good luck.

Get some ginger root....boil some water and add a couple slices. Add a little honey and/or lemon juice ...pretty banging tea that helps inflammation...good for post training.

Kala Health - MSM Powder (PurforMSM) for horses (see Amazon)

get the 5lb or 10lb and take as directed for a horse (2 scoops for a week loading and then one thereafter). Most of these supplements need to be taken for several months to start to notice the easing of joint/bone pain and inflammation.

A powerful anti-inflammatory is Statins. If you have any issue at all with plaque buildup and/or elevated lipid levels, low dose statins are a good choice.
