I, for one, find it shocking that a nation with 4 times as many people as America has a larger economy.

Such a misleading stat. GDP/capita in China is still grindingly poor.

Outside of the cities, china is africa with smaller dick and smaller people.

So they literally made up a metric so they can have this headline?

How Blomberg of them!

China had the largest economy in the world until, roughly, the 1890s - then we overtook them.

They decided to keep making things after they rebuilt their economy following the ravages of WWII and Marxism-Leninism. We decided to sit on arse and collect checks.

Who's going to win that long game?

The navy is set to get a threefold increase in marines in the next several years. It is also extending its military presence further afield, setting up a base in Djibouti on the Horn of Africa. China is already starting to build its own military hardware. It has developed the J-20 stealth fighter and the new generation J-16 strike jet fighter.

A bunch of poorly trained non battled test troops are not going to be effective. Esp when their NCOs and officers have no combat experience as well.

China's military equipment is crap. Even the shite the stole they can't even get to work right. Our AF, Navy and Marine pilots have logged so much more flight time it would be a massacre in the sky.

Does this factor in the millions of people in China living below the poverty level?

China will have a MASSIVE problem soon as their population ages.

They'll have over 200 million people too old to care for themselves thanks to their population explosion after WWII. Their economy will have to go to caring for them.

Nope. They will not be allowed to be a burden to the system.

I, for one, find it shocking that a publication with a modicum of financial credibility would claim $12.4 trillion exceeds $19.6 trillion, much less that a GDP per capita of $8,836 exceeds $59,495.

Despite Bloomberg's left leanings, I find that degree of journalistic irresponsibility shocking.
