This is the same guy who has or had the fireworks stand next to the P’ville produce market. He’s a huge douche.

Hope his wife marries better the second time.

The pros burn the same restaurant down multiple times. :littlemike:

I know his wife and kids have to be hurting as he was putting them through school at Parkview.

He opened Marino's Fresh Market in Pville and did well there with crawfish, fireworks and steady fruit stand business. He sold it because he wanted to open his own Italian rest (Italian Bowl.) Much harder business to run and succeed at. It sounded fishy when that place burned. Then when his new place burned I knew he was screwed. He wasnt affording the house he has and Parkview for 4 kids on the lunchtime business he was doing at that place.

If we don’t know each other then we know some of the same people. I knew this was coming the second the second he set fire to Cast Iron.

Most likely, we have mutual friends. I've known about his non-payment / slow payment issues to his vendors for quite some time now.

The insurance fraud is new to me, but not surprising, considering I knew he had to be in debt up to his ears -- from tuition alone.

I believe he used to be the owner of the produce stand, before it was Peppers (which has now closed and being reworked to turn into something else).

Edited ...

Marino's Fresh Market as previous poster mentioned.

I see that the dude's mom started a GoFundMe after Cast Iron Kitchen burned down.

I don't see how some people get into the restaurant business. It's such a tough industry to make money and drives people to commit multiple arsons while having a family at home.

From the GoFundMe:

quote:

The Marino's are trying to start rebuilding. My son's restaurant, The Cast Iron Kitchen burned down Sunday evening. It is a total loss. This family of 7 donated & delivered 1000's of meals to flood victims. Now they are struggling to start over again. With the loss of income from their restaurant, they need some help. They do have insurance but it will be weeks before they will receive anything from them. There is also a deductible they must pay. This is to help them get started rebuilding immediately and help cover their daily expenses as they depend on the restaurants income to live

Probably shouldn’t have burned it down.

Ah gotcha. Marino's. I remember that now. I would go get maters and onions from there for PJs when we ran out.

Good Ole Streetview history views from 2011.

BR/Ascension is a hard place to make it in the rest business. Lots of competition, high commercial real estate costs, and the people have very high standards. The hard part is knowing when to cut bait and close up shop before you completely bury yourself. Italian Bowl would prob be very successful in Houston. People will eat up anything here.

That location, along with his inability to train and retain employees -- and his knowledge of only how to work the back of the "house" did him in.

Or the guy that owned The Caterie and the place in Fairway View which both burned down mysteriously.

Yes indeed. Currently Fratelli's. I really hope the owner succeeds here. They are extremely nice people and put out a good product.

Word on the street is his home “flooded” a few years back from a plumbing issue not the flood.

Im sure they subpoenaed all his financials and that told the tale. Also I know the owner of the business next door to the Cast Iron Kitchen whose security cameras caught him leaving right before the fire. He told me this dude was screwed a while back.
