re: Most of you put way too much stock in recruiting rankings

This will turn out to be a great class. I wish we had gotten Surtain and a QB, but overall a very solid class.

We should also remember the class in 2014, which finished #1 still hasn't won 10 games in a seasonand has gone 2-2 in bowl games. Also that class had 9 interiot lineman. At the end of the day , we are so caught up in one 5 star player and 1 four star players we lost and forgotten we signed 4 star db and a 5 star receiver. as much as I wanted Surtain, we still got Chase and Joseph.

To be fair in my eyes it is Coach O who has put this over emphasis on recruiting rankings with his pitch to get the job. Coach O relied on his "reputation" as a recruiter as a justification for the gig so he is the one who raised expectations on the class and to have it as the lowest ranked class in years just perpetuates the perception that he's promised more than he can deliver.
O's three promises:
-Get the best coordinators
-Not meddle with those coordinators
-Recruit the best players
You can't blame anyone for looking at his promises and the outcomes and raising concerns. Of course the fix to the concerns goes higher than O but this post is approaching TLDR so I'll stop.

If you can't see how inept and lost this coaching staff is then I feel bad for you. Yes, we filled needs on Early Signing Day but overall it was not good. Even the national media is shocked at how LSU finished. This staff just continues to blunder along and it is a sad sight to behold.
I'm glad for all of the recruits that signed with LSU and want to be Tigers. LSU will be a good team next year but not great and in no way compete for any level of championships.

If you don’t think Fulton or Vincent can adequately man the spot next to Greedy I don’t know what to say. And we have a ton of tweener safeties so I have no concerns about nickle situations. We aren’t as stacked as usual but you guys act like the cupboard is totally bare.

And later in the year after Troy, he relied on that reputation again as to why we should expect better days ahead.
So we there should be concern when we have the 5th best class in the SEC. We play 3 of those teams that finished ahead of us on a regular basis.

The inability to sign an absolute stud at QB has been the biggest problem for our program.

Remember when Alabama had top 2 classes for like 8 straight years and won a bunch of championships? I do.

yes, and add to that our inability to have a very good WR coach and CALL THE PLAYS to get them the ball.

Mettenberger brought life back into the program and we have had nothing since.
ok, Mett could strong arm the ball but so could Lee. OBJ and Landry made Mett. he just threw it in their area and they came down with it. no, we need a QB much better than Zack Mettenberger. maybe Brennen will be the man.

Remember when bama has a ton of #1 classes and won a ton of championships?
Remember when we hired a guy who wasn’t really a football genius but sold us on recruiting?
