3 pages and no mention of Another One Bites the Dust by Queen, very disappointing effort by the thread

Stevie Wonder - Black Man

So fricking nasty. And doesn't let up all 8+ minutes.

If we're gonna keep raising Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life songs relative to greatest bass lines, we may as well include the entire album that includes bass in the songs(I have the entire album on my iPod, I believe it was one of the biggest-selling albums of all-time during that time period pre-Thriller which IMO is completely justified, a PHENOMENAL successor to Fulfillingness' First Finale and promoted to no end). One of the all-time music albums ever recorded.

In the Meantime - Spacehog

That is a great one. Favorite of mine. As a player, I love Geddy and Jack Bruce and all those guys, and they are at the top, but for a great memorable 'line', I am thinking something that just grooves. 'The Joker' and 'Stuck In The Middle With You' are great examples.

Royston Langdon is great in so many ways. I really wish The Tender Trio had lasted. I know a few of the songs ended up on a recent Spacehog album, but they just weren't the same. Good luck finding the originals.

I feel like Zach (Armistead Burwell) Smith deserves some mention. He is one of the most interesting bass players of his generation. He also kind of looks a bit like one of our resident bass players.

King Crimson Discipline and any Peter Gabriel, Tony Levin, is the correct answer. I've seen Tony with Peter and KC in the past two years and he is the best bass player on any stage right now. Stick, bass, etc. YES.

The Lemon Song

I didn't realize it until I was in a similar conversation and was told to go back and listen. John Paul Jones is walking up and down that neck.
