Killthegophers

What’s Cajun made like these days? I won a 175 gift certificate there in a tournament and need to get over there and use it.

Yup. The Driver is worth the money already, which is making me want to get the rest now. Anyone know how to sell a kidney?

I usually play in sugar Land. Usually, Cinco ranch or Meadowbrook if playing in Katy.

How was the Club Champion experience? They have one here in Charlotte and I was considering going for a driver fitting.

I thought it was awesome. It was my first time trying out the different combinations for each club. It was amazing to see how the ball flight would change with different shafts or heads.

My fitter was fairly honest when it came to the irons. After hitting a bunch he said that it might not be worth it to upgrade right now because the best was only a little more distance but not much improved accuracy (i.e. need to improve swing a little more before investing). He also didn't try to push anything on me. Even the putter fitting he just made a few tweaks to the angles (for free) and added some lead tape. He said I didn't really need to buy a new one.

Afterwards, I wish I had known more going in to request some specific shafts to try. Also, the price for everything was shocking, but I didn't feel forced to buy anything.

Asked my wife to get me a gift certificate for a club fitting at David Toms 265 so I could get fit for some P790’s. I’m pretty sure I know my specs but I want to hit some different shafts. Had a friend get fitted there and he said it was awesome and the discounted the clubs by the cost of the fitting.

Also, does anyone else feel like you are obligated to stick with certain clubs if your wife buys them for you as a gift? I tell her to get me a gift certificate to a shop so she does not feel like she bought a particular club just in case it ends up on eBay in six months.

For anyone interested, there is a set of used P790s at golfballs.com in Lafayette. I know for a fact have only been used 5 rounds. I guy I know bought them and used them 3 times (I played in his group all 3 times. He sold to another guy who switched the shafts (stiff) and put on MCC grips, used them 2xs and sold them back to golfballs.

Both guys are scratch golfers and those things are clean. I would buy them, but I just didn't like the feel of them.

Disclaimer: I neither work at golfballs nor get money for sending them business. This is simply a PSA on a good deal.

She wouldn’t buy anything without my input or that from one of my golf buddies that would know, but even if I tell her what I want I feel bad when I later sell it for the next latest-and-greatest.
