I couldn't help but make myself laugh when I read that they were demanding a ransom from HBO and I thought it would be awesome if HBOs CEO just made a statement "we do not kneel"

Or he could say "I will NOT bend the knee!"

I don't like it. I think it is shitty.

Hopefully HBO tells them to go to hell.

I appreciate HBO for taking a series I love (GOT) and finishing it.

Without HBO the GOT story would never have an ending.

HBO has done a good job and deserves to be paid for their work.

I have actually signed up for HBO Now last year and this year during the months GOT airs.

Time Warner is a cesspool and is being absorbed by AT&T

I find myself rooting for them

I'm still watching week to week on HBO regardless. Even if I know the shows are out there, I'm not going and looking for them or reading threads based on spoilers.

Same here. I could have the entire season spoiled for me if I wanted to right now. But I choose not to.

So stupid, do the hackers seriously not realize leaking the episodes does almost nothing to viewership?

Sunday's episode was the most watched episode of the entire series with 10.17 million viewers.

At first I got excited by the hack thinking I would be able to watch a new GOT episode on Friday instead of Sunday but then I realized it was all just shitty low definition releases so I just waited till Sunday.

Kinda torn..
I mean , I think someone stealing someone else's work is a dick move...

But then again.. each actor makes 2.5 million per episode..
So, I'm sure everyone at HBO it's totes sad.. wiping their tears away with money

Well, I mean, It's extortion, and these guys are d-bags. I'm sure they say they are "sticking it to the man" but this is all about financial compensation.

That being said, I did watch the leaked episode on Friday, but I also watched the premiere when it came out on Sunday. So HBO still got my ratings.

I'm not pretending I shed any tears, but I'm not making any effort or going out of my way just to watch it a little sooner (and probably a low quality version at that). It's a good product and I have no problem with how it's delivered.

The potential damage to HBO comes from the hackers stealing contracts, memos, budget, and accounting documents. Not the shows.

It ruined careers at Sony and can do the same at HBO. Not to mention if there is any corporate malfeasance that is brought to light.

HBO has been one of the bigger pricks in the whole DMCA wars. That obviously pisses off hackers. Not taking sides, but that's your explanation for the acrimony.
